  1. So, if you FLY the aircraft, can you land on the runway? Remember, Aviate , navigate, communicate. All aircraft fly the same, until you introduce automation. Don't rely on automation, fly the aircraft and point it where you want it to go.
  2. If you press the TOGA button, the aircraft will command TOGA whether you have flaps set or not. Yes, it will not command Thrust Ref, it will command TOGA. Below is out of the QF FCOM. Autothrottle (A/T) ARM Switch ARM - • disconnects if more than one engine inoperative • arms A/T system for mode selection • A/T operates when VNAV, FLCH, or TO/GA switch pushed • A/T operates when speed switch pushed and pitch mode is ALT, V/S, or G/S • when A/T flight mode annunciation blank and pitch mode is VNAV XXX or FLCH SPD, cycling the A/T ARM switch to OFF and back to ARM operates the A/T
  3. Yep, what Peter says, have a bit of a study. If LNAV won't arm on the ground, then your first waypoint is not within the LNAV limits as you said. The easy way around that is to fly "Heading Select" and then perform a "Direct to" in the legs page of the FMC. My bible when flying is the "FMC User's Guide" written by Bill Bulfer. I'm not so sure whether it's still available. The aircraft will not descend until you either select a lower altitude whilst in VNAV mode or you push the knob under the Altitude window. The "Speed" window will open and you'll descend in FLCH mode. You'll get there, we all started at the begining. Also get to know your FMA's as they will always let you know what mode is controlling the aircraft. A few pilots have come unstuck not observing their FMA's. Buzz
  4. So, you're not arming VNAV until the cruise? VNAV in the 744 is normally armed on the ground. If you're not arming VNAV until the cruise, then yes it will ignore your entry in the FMC. It sounds like you're climbing out in FLCH mode. If so, that will over ride speed/Altitude entries in the FMC. You'll see the FMA's on the PFD change to indicate that. Edit: Just had another read of you question. Is the entry you're making in the cruise? Buzz
  5. They'll release it when it's ready. Though that will be great day. V3 of P3D is amazing and the 744 will just complete it.
  6. Yep, what Kyle said or you've set a cruise altitude of 270 in the CRZ page of the FMC and then dialed 37000 on the MCP. Just push the knob and that will reset the FL in the CRZ page to what's set on the MCP.
  7. I had Hyper threading turned on in Win 7 and FSX was fine. Changed to Win 8.1 and had to turn it off. Stuttering was horrendous. Go figure!
  8. Map all controls through FSUIPC, then disable controllers in FSX and they work great! I had the same issues. Also raising the sensitivity might work too. It did for me before I changed to Windows 8.1.
  9. Turn off Hyperthreading in the BIOS. I had to when I went from WIn 7 to 8.1 My stuttering was very bad. Totally different tweaking process in 8. I'm surprised you haven't mentioned that your joystick stopped working.
  10. The 747 when heavy and in the cruise will not accelerate in real life. You have to change VNAV to V/S and start a slow descent and take a run up so to speak. Buzz
  11. I had all the above problems with Win 8.1. I went back to Win 7 and have no issues. As a side note, I also rolled back my home theatre PC to Win 7 because of driver issues. Can I ask for a refund on two Win 8 keys?? Buzz
  12. Qantas ordered six 747-400's with the extra 9700 Kilo fuel tank. They were registered VH-OEA thru to F. They had GE engines, not the RR's as on the rest of the fleet. Only four or even three I think are still flying, they got rid of what was known as the ugly sisters. They quite often run a normal 744 on that route, one of the Oscar Juliets, but as mentioned it has to do with the wind, etc, whith sometimes a stop over in Brisbane. Buzz
  13. Nothing wrong, you can select it in the PMDG options in the FMC.
  14. You're going to have to be a bit more specific. What do your FMA's say? Is VNAV/LNAV set? Buzz
  15. I have noticed this isse as well
