July 2, 200322 yr I don't know about FRs being AWESOME - I have an Athlon 2400XP with 512 DDR400 RAM, and 128MB GeForce4 Ti4200, and my FRs jump about from 25(locked) to 4 even when stationary, making the sim unflyable (terribly stuttery).Jonny
July 2, 200322 yr Moderator I'm very happy with frame rates with this 737 on my system - Athlon 2000XP, 512Mb, Ti4600 feeding two 19" monitors. I'm only using the 2D cockpit option and I would agree with dilloll0 that it's very fluid and the panel is frame rate friendly. The ability to undock the primary displays and move them to a second screen is brilliant. The aircraft is a delight to fly which perhaps is one of the most important issues. But, I also feel the package is overpriced by perhaps $10, has a registration system that will deter many from buying it and that documentation should have been issued on release. The PMFG forum is being deluged with lots of questions which the manuals could probably have answered.Once I've overcome the problems I'm having I have no doubt I will fly this aircraft a lot especially when it links to the Aerosoft MCP.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). July 2, 200322 yr I will say that frame rates are a problem after using the plane for awhile (this is only when I choose the rear cabin option). I notice that the plane seems to need allot more thrust coming in for landing than it should, reverse thrust is not strong enough to help stop the plane on landing rolls, and the braking is kind of weak. I had to adjust the aircraft.cfg file from -20 to -50 to give me more reverse thrust power. At KMDW I would just over shoot the runway when trying to land and end up in the trees. KMDW is a perfect airport to test aircraft such as this (737s), these planes fly in and out of that airport all the time. Overall the plane is underpowered because I can barley take off from KMDW. I tried to adjust my fuel load to 50% fuel in each tank but that did not solve the problem (still testing, I might not have the trim set correctly). I can't use the rear cabin because the frame rate hit is too great on my system or better yet it's noticeable enough to #### me off (machine specs above). I'll try and post more findings as I see them.... July 2, 200322 yr For those whinning about the price, don't buy it! I have payed over $20 for a GA aircraft that has nowhere near the complexity and detail. I also remember paying somewhere around $30-40 for PIC when it first came out, and that was a few years ago. Yes there are a few issues, but they are all being addressed. I can't ever remember a product that came out and was hiccup free in its first week. PIC had patches, the meridian had fixes, as did PSS Airbus, Dash-8, F1 dc-9, C421, Seneca V... shall I continue? Everyone needs to take a deep breath and relax! Give it a few days to mature. The PMDG boys have always been great at taking care of their customers. Just let them get their butts back in the boat. Right now they keep being shoved under water by some guy with an oar because the 737 doesn't act like his PIC 767. :( And to quote Arnold,AAAHHHH OOOOHHHHMMMM!Scott Burke
July 2, 200322 yr especially when it links to the Aerosoft MCPBut can it link to external hardware like Aerosoft's?I am not a programmer, but I think that for this to be possible, PMDG must release technical information about offsets etc., no?Stamatis
July 2, 200322 yr Moderator Hi Stamatis,PMDG and Andrew at Aerosoft are working together to make this possible.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). July 2, 200322 yr Hey, Ray, Are you now a "Member of Team Radar Contact" because of your controller voice set??? :-cool Despite being Controller 12, I'm still only a "Proud Supporter of...." Hmmmmmmmmmm Or is it because you're a beta tester on 3.1??? Just curious (and jealous, I guess :-lol )Steve Lewis, KCLE
July 2, 200322 yr Moderator Hi Steve,JD invited me to join the team last July as a beta tester. The team did over six months of testing before the product was released - hence its quality. Pity more commercial developers don't advocate a longer spell of testing as it does pay dividends.Even though you're "only" a "Proud Supporter" the publicity for Radar Contact is just as visible and your voice set is much appreciated by me and many others. I also recorded a set of ATC sounds for Manchester but that was quite easy to do as I live within 3 miles of EGCC.Send an e-mail to Scott (with the promise of a cheque in the post) and it will probably shorten your odds of joining the elite! ;-)Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). July 2, 200322 yr Correction:I adjusted the .air file not the aircraft.cfg file to address the reverse thrust problem. FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
July 2, 200322 yr Sorry guys...but this is getting really annoying.......Why is it that whenever an add-on gets released for MSFS, we have to go through this "teething problems...please give us some slack whilst we fix the problems" stage? You charge good $$ for a product that is not ready. Simple as that, and expect everyone to just "accept" it.....Do I go to my local car dealership to buy a new car, part with my cash and then be told.."It'll drive ok, but sorry for any problems; please bear with us until we fix all the development problems" ...?No.You expect people to buy something from you...then PLEASE HAVE A VIABLE WORKING PRODUCT.Looks very nice...I'm sure it fly's very well and very well done for developing it.If you want to play with the big boys and charge some serious cash for *ONE* add-on aircraft, then at least get it right......Sorry.....not buying it I'm afraid until memory leaks/download probs and everything else people are having problems with are sorted. No offence intended, but just a little tired of commercial companies taking the p*** !
July 2, 200322 yr Well here is my .10 cents worth of review. I downloaded the package last night and I have flown the aircraft with the 2D panel only. Overall the aircraft is beautiful. The panel is very nicely done and I like the features where you can enlarge the displays (ala PSS airbus)...the gauges refresh briskly. I flew the aircraft out of KMOD, the tanks were full and with 10 degrees of flap I rotated at around 137 knots, I do not have V-speeds for this aircraft used the ones from a -400 series aircraft. KMOD (my home town) has a short runway but I have seen and occasional charter B737-300 utilize it. I think my fuel tanks were full. I did a derated takeoff so that N1 was set to 81% airtemp was 15C. I used up all the runway 5000 plus feet. The acceleration is pretty pokey at 81% N1. The thing rotated and climbed out and accelerated to 250 knots. The airfile is very stable.I will do more patters work tonight..ran out of time this AM. I am at work now! I truly love this package. The price is too high at $40, panel aircraft sound and one livery. The registration and activation and transfer procedures are to complex. I know they are trying to stop pirating but come on now. I love FlightOne and how they do it just fabulous. This is doable but a headache. Next week I get a new CPU and guess what the PMDG will not work I have to do an "unregister" and "reregister maneuver".This was brief and early I will have more to offer in the next few days. Oh and the FMC initially if you can work the DreamFleet FMC this one will be familiar to you. Of course as all of us get more in depth with the manuals this could change.Best wishes PMDGTony
July 2, 200322 yr I understand what you are saying but I ask that you cut these guys some slack since this is their first release for MSFS. All of my dealings with them on the Fly! series have been first rate, I can honestly say that this is one group that I have enjoyed dealing with and I have purchased a lot of add ons for both Fly! and MSFS. I am not trying to "bash" you here but the analogy to a new car is not completely correct, have you ever seen the number of recalls for cars? If they are not the life and death type of recall you never hear anything about it but on one car that we own it had 9 "recalls" on it for little things which I only found out by talking to the dealer. I think that in this market, flight sim that is, once you announce a product you have a group of people that keep screaming at you to release it so the developer feels the pressure to get it out ASAP. In fact just the other day I saw a post complaining that PMDG has not released their product yet, then when they do there is a group that complains about the product not being ready. It really is too bad the pressure that we put on these people that are just trying to give us something that we can enjoy. Whatever problems with their product PMDG will fix them. I better say that whatever real problems exist, they will fix them, as opposed to the perceived problems by so many "experts" out there. I have not purchased the 737 yet but I do plan on it today or tomorrow and I for one really look forward to it. Thanks, Philip
July 2, 200322 yr PhilipI understand the point you are trying to make. Why should we have to "give these guys some slack"....or any other "guy" that produces a commercial product for profit. If I asked PMDG to "cut me some slack" on the price as I think it's too high...would they?I think we all know the answer to that!I am not saying that I expect a 100% perfect product. That is impossible.I am saying, however, that these threads stating major problems with commercial add-ons, beginning with how they are downloaded and registered are becoming increasingly common-place.Sorry...I just think it's a bit much that's all !
July 2, 200322 yr I agree 100% that they shouldn't be given any slack, well, maybe some minor problems with the panel or flight model, etc. could be overlooked but there is something seriously wrong when so many people are having problems downloading or purchasing the product. They don't even have the manual available yet and said it won't be until the 7th.It's another rush job, kind of like the PIC Airbus and it's a bit high at 40$ too. I can definitely live without it... Just my 2 cents.JJS
