Lefty is akin to 'Dave' being short for David.I had some great mates called 'Lefty', - Lefteris. In the UK it's a freindly name for a good freind.

I thought "Lefty" was another name for "Babe Magnet".Bill

My usage of "Lefty" was intended as a friendly nickname, not an insult. :) A lesson in cultural differences then.
