If it is technically possible, how about dividing the PMDG forum into product sections?Since the release of the MD11 and the enthusiastic response from customers and just plain curious, this forum has become unwieldy. There are still a whole load of us who are learning the Boeings, remember.Of course, if it isn

Put me on the nay side of the discussion. I enjoy browsing the forum and respond to many topics, but I don't think I would bother if I had to switch between three or four forums to do so. What about the loyal fans who actually own 737/747/MD11?

You know what they say, once you go Firefox, you never go back :( Maybe we should just have somebody set up a poll. That would settle the issue.

Ray,I wanted to get rid of IE but have not found out how to get my Windows Updates without it?I have the FireFox plugin for IE but still used IE for the updates!Anyway, if there were 2000 subjects posted equally on 4 products ... 500 subject posts per product. How many would you scroll thru to find the one you wanted ... not search, scroll ...1500 or more?If each product had its own posting section ... max would be 500.It works on other forums OK.Just think how much searching CPU time you would save!Probably a poor example but then again it is early Sunday morning.

Andy,I always got an error ... cuz of no ActiveX controls. I am not a software literate type ... it is all rather messy stuff, getting MS updates without errors!..............................I just got these comments also off the internet:Why can't any current browser be used to download Windowssecurity updates? Why is IE necessary? I do not useInternet Explorer, and I assume this prohibits me fromdownloading any Windows ME security updates. Because any current browser doesn't support things like ActiveX. Actually, some of the critical security patches are *only* available throughthe Windows Update site and with a browser that supports ActiveX (that would beIE exclusive). This is BAD! .......................................

I don't use XP anymore but if I remember correctly if you look in the control panel there is a Windows Update icon that uses the same interface as is used for fully automatic updates, i.e. its not IE lol.

Cheers, Andy.

I use that one in the control panel also.Same results. It is the same as using the one on the START button/ Windows update.MS updates needs ActiveX controls. If you do not use XP ... what OS do you use? That works well with PMDG / MSFS and or FSX?

I'm using Vista 64 with 4Gb of RAM an ATI HD4870 GPU and a Q6700 Quad core processor mildly overclocked to 3.2Ghz. FSX with almost everything at max and the MD11 run very well on this setup even with other things like ASX, FEX, Radar Contact and FS Flight Keeper running too.

Cheers, Andy.

Andy,How do you get the Windows Updates or Microsoft Updates?I thought all Microsoft used this ActiveX controls for verification? When I go to Microsoft I see the updates for WinXP and Vista.Edit:So, Vista has IE7 correct? But you do not have to use it to get Updates?

Windows/Microsoft update is not dependent on a browser in Vista, its a separate process all together. I wont use IE7 either, Firefox is a lot more useful with all its great add-ons/extensions.

Cheers, Andy.
