August 16, 200421 yr DamianI have just installed B139 and wish to report that the sudden wind shifts in the high altitudes are no more, instead as I proceed at 31,000 north from Atlanta towards Washington DC I observed a smooth increase from 20 knots to 80 knots in the jet stream as I went north. The variety of different cloud patterns along the way was nothing short of spectacular. Now the bad part. On both occasions even after rebooting I had CF9 crash suddenly. Fs9 was running fine all day before the upgrade and on the 2 flights since crashed on both occassions.I will investigate this further and fire it up again with build 132 and see what happens. I had weird winds at times with 132 but I never had any crashes. Don
August 16, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi Don,Thanks for the report! Please also try going back to FSUIPC 3.308 (in the B132 build) as the problem may be in FSUIPC 3.317's new routines. No other reports of this yet... it could very well be something wrong on your system. Did this crash occur in the same area? Can you reproduce with a certain wx file and flight plan? August 16, 200421 yr Hi Damian,Congratulations once more for your fantastic work and the marvellous program! One snag so:I installed the Beta B139 and the Fsuipc DLL in the module dir and I get a message on FS9 start that a PRGM NOT REGISTERED is intending access to a non registered version of FSUIPC (which is my case on this PC)Message in log reads:DebugStatus=7 15843 System time = 10:58:14 15937 RON-S51L9FN4XMGFlight Simulator 9 15953 System time = 10:58:14, FS2004 time = 12:00:00 (00:00Z) 31203 FLIGHTSOTHERFLTSIM.flt 31390 AIRCRAFTc172Cessna172SP.air 31390 Aircraft="Cessna Skyhawk 172SP" 50921 Module identified = "ActiveRadar.dll" 50921 ModuleOK="ActiveRadar.dll" 55406 Client Application: "AS2004" (Id=3464) 55406 F:FS2004Flight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004AS2004.exe 55406 Product="ActiveSky2004" 55406 Company="HiFi Simulation Software" 55515 Illegal write attempt: offset C800, size 1024 55515 ... August 16, 200421 yr Hello...I do see an improvement on the latest release. Great job guys. One problem though....I do not get winds on the ground. Can u please help with that problem. ThanksJerry
August 16, 200421 yr Did a flight from Dubai to Munich and for the first time I had not a single sudden wind change. Looks like a major breaktrough for me!Thanks for your work and all the improvements, money was well spent on your product.Toby Regards, Tobias Kister
August 16, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi Ronald,Thanks for the report! Found the problem and fixed, posted in B140 and link now updated in initial thread post. The problem was due to the starting order (AS2004.5 then FS9) and a bug in a new FSUIPC process. Thanks again! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
August 16, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi Jerry,Check your FSUIPC options, do you have taxi wind control enabled, or maximum wind limits enabled via FSUIPC or AS2004? Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
August 16, 200421 yr Taxi wind problem fixed, just did a flight, and had winds on the ground. ThanksJerry
August 16, 200421 yr Hi Damian,Can you please advise me as to which files I now need for full NEW install.I currently have on my hard drive :-HIFI-AS2004.zip Main FileActiveRadarConnector2b1.zipas2k4updateMR1.zipas2004MR2-12updateRC.zipAS2004MR2-b115-RC1.zipAS2004MR2-b130-RC1.zipAS2004MR2-b131-RC1.zipAS2004MR2-b132-RC2.zipAS20045-b140.zipCan you please advise which ones I can safely permanently delete..ThanksRegardsKeith
August 16, 200421 yr Hi Keith,Hopefully Damian is catching up on some sleep!! From your list, please archive the first one for sure. The b140 you can keep or delete. Everything in between can go.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
August 16, 200421 yr hello, AS team,i would only thank you at this point for your realy hard work.AS2004 has enhanced the sim alot.before i
August 16, 200421 yr Hi Damian and Jim!Many thanks for never-ending support and development for this great product! Just a quick comment, nothing seriously:Since installing the latest betas (including now 140), i do see the following after loading AS2004: Winds are correctly updated but i do not see any cloud updates except i press again refresh within AS2004 - then everything else is set properly - is that correct? in previous betas, winds and clouds were drawn in one piece without refreshing (and therefore force AS2004 again to download all data, which were already downloaded at startup...).My starting procedure is as follows: Start FS2004 and then AS2004.I'm a registered FSUIPC user, setting as per documentation.Another observation was today (with build 139) during a flight. The groundstation (airport),which i overpassed at FL320, reported heavy fog - suddenly everything turned grey and i was within a fogbank at FL320 too...is that's correct? I will disable "DepictFS9HazeLayer = True" maybe that was the problem...No problems with any wind shifts here. great work!thanks and cheers, harald //AS2004.5 configuration file Build 140[General]WindowPosX = 5235WindowPosY = 1830DefaultWeatherFolder = D:ProgrammeMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 4000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 150MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 50DateienFlight Simulator FilesIncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseDepictFS9HazeLayer = TrueDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseDisableGroundUpdates = TrueUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = FalseFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = TrueAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 2AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 2TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE
August 16, 200421 yr Thank you Markus.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
August 16, 200421 yr Thanks to you too Harald,Because you have Disable Ground Update On, the weather may take a bit longer to process. Please try both ways and report back when you get a chance.DepictFS9HazeLayer may cause this. Check Off and re-start AS and FS. Also, increase your maxvisibilitylimit to 80 and see what you think.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
August 16, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi Herald,Thanks for the report... I have identified and fixed the problem with ground updates off & the inital wx set. Until the new build please manually refresh or uncheck disable ground updates...As to being fogged in at FL320, no, this is not normal unless you were in a cloud layer. It could be:1) Problem with the FS9 visibility/haze ceiling being set above your altitude, not below 10,000GL or via lower cloud layer altitudes as it should2) If thunderstorms were around the area, it could be a problem with the tstorm depiction and vis ceiling computationDid this happen in only one area or all over? Can you reproduce with a certain wx file and flight plan? Thank you! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
