November 15, 200619 yr Perchance, you guys' Internet Explorer is not set to "Work Offline", is it?I have seen that problem several times. For some reason this setting gets changed in Windows every once in a while, and it prevents any use of ActiveSky.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
November 15, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi all,Yes, do check the work offline setting...Other than that, as Jim mentioned, there is nothing we can do. Peer 1 (our network "ISP") is a huge backbone internet provider with services all over the world. If an ISP has chosen to block Peer 1, that would result in a very big percentage of the entire internet being unavailable to that ISP. Literally thousands of very big companies use Peer 1.FWIW we have 2 servers for wx access, one in Houston, TX, USA (Secondary), and one in Los Angeles, CA, USA (Primary). You can try forcing the secondary server if the primary isn't working. Although if your ISP has blocked the entire Peer 1 network that won't help.Since the ISP has indicated that THEY have done the blocking then my only suggestion would be to try and convince such ISP that they've blocked too much, and are preventing access to a huge world-wide backbone provider. If they won't budge, I would highly recommend switching to another ISP. I've never heard of such a "block" at this scale before. It sounds quite unreasonable. Hopefully they'll realize that soon.Sorry we cannot be of more help!Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
November 15, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi,Outage from oz too? Hmmm...This may indicate more than just a potential "block" issue from one ISP then, obviously. It could also just be coincidence. My best guess is there are some routing issues somewhere on the 'net which probably are outside the realm of any of our ISPs, but rather something in the exchanging backbound providers. These kinds of things do tend to happen on the internet, but are usually very temporary. We'll need to wait 24 hours or so to see if such guess is correct.. if it is, things should clear up on their own. If not, we'll need to think of other things and potential solutions. Please keep us informed of any change of status if you are experiencing this issue.FWIW there are 3 reports now, 2 from Germany on the same ISP and one in Australia. Very isolated. Our servers and network are showing 100% health through the past 7 days with nothing out of the ordinary.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
November 15, 200619 yr Hi!Internet Explorer is in Online Mode.Still no luck with the Hifisim Website.Thx for your help anyway. Ralf Intel [email protected],ASUS GTX 1080 Strix,Samsung 4K TV Ralf Zimmermann
November 16, 200619 yr the web site is accessible again from my end now (i wasn't offline in the browser either btw!).support the 'just a feature of the net' theory?!
November 16, 200619 yr Author Hi all,I send an e-mail to peer1 and got following answer :QTEHello there,We have confirmed the routing as functional, after hop 12 in your traceroute it hits non-routed IP space to the end destination. However, the end-destination appears to be filtering both UDP and ICMP and so traceroutes do not complete. As the end-device is not controlled by Peer1 we are unable to troubleshoot the firewall employed by the end-user. We would recommend contacting the person or persons who maintain the site in question for further action, from where it can be escalated as necessary-- Rory EricksonNetwork Operations CentrePEER 11000 - 555 West Hastings StreetVancouver, BC, Canada V6B 4N524/7 Support: 1.866.484.2588T: 604.484.2588F: [email protected] | CO-LOCATION | DEDICATED HOSTINGUNQTEIt seems to me that the problems sits at your end ... !Karl, Berlinp.s. November 17, 200619 yr Hi allthanks to Karl for the e-mail to peer1.I started a new traceroute from my site (see at end)Our problem is that we cannot look after hop 12.Can Jim or Damian make a traceroute from hifisim.com to amipax.dyndns.org (my site)so we can see the rear route from www.hifisim.com to hop 12 (i hope)after this we can connect all the admins of the sites in the selected range.I have otherwise no idea to fix the problem. One other people here in Berlin with ISP Versatel can connect hifisim.com There routing goes over sprintlink.net.Micha, Berlinno weather is badly weather!==================================================== Route report on 17.11.2006 18:24:22 ====================================================Report for www.hifisim.com [72.51.39.176]This trace was started on 17.11.2006 18:22:55.The host www.hifisim.com could not be reached - it does not respond to Route's diagnostic packets. November 17, 200619 yr Hi All,I will point Damian back to this thread. I can't do a reverse trace because all you will see is my cable route to your site. Give Damian a few hours.Until this gets resolved, if you wish to send me a personal e-mail I can send back some current weather files for you to use in Offline Mode. I'll be around all weekend to do this.
