January 6, 200521 yr Just wanted to let you guys know, that the rumors you may of heard about ms releasing a spyware removal program is true. Its still in beta, but its the best i have. Adaware and SpyBot arent this good.Check it out at http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/s...re/default.mspxHurry and get it though, more rumors are that after ms gets the final version out, it will become a payware program. January 6, 200521 yr Anyone using this yet and if so how is it and does it stay in your running processes list even if your not using it? Eric
January 6, 200521 yr Author Yes, i downloaded it and then posted the link right after. It has ridded my pc of app's that Spybot and Adaware cant. The 2 free ones take it off, then i reboot, and they are right back, but now with the MS program, works great. Stays in your system tray, but i see no effect in my systems performance. Its worth the download. Chase Barnett
January 6, 200521 yr Thanks for the Heads up Chase. Just downloaded & ran it to find 10 ad/spyware apps on my system that Spybot didn't pick up including a browser hijacker.Regards,Ross Cheers, Ross i910900KF | ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Extreme Z590 | ASUS ROG STRIX RTX3070 OC 8Gb | 32Gb G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3200 I Thermaltake Water 3.0 Riing | Samsung SSD 870 1TB GB HD | WIN 10 64 Bit
January 6, 200521 yr Author for example,it picked a hijack attempt about 10 min ago. A trojan that resets my browser and search bar and displays porn on my pc.. it caught it, and reported it to a server.works great, i have no spyware what so ever..this is a must have removal software. Chase Barnett
January 7, 200521 yr Many thanks for thiat...one just can't be too careful these days!! Nice to see that FINALLY Microsoft are doing something about it!! It caught something that Adaware had missed, though using the FireFox browser from Mozilla seems to have stopped pretty much everything nasty anyway!
January 7, 200521 yr Author Yeah, seems almost as if microsoft has the power that the developers of SpyBot and Adaware didnt. S&D could remove some annoying files from my pc, and it would often have problems removing a few at the same time, and ask "can we run on ur next bootup", having seen how slow these little internet f*****s could be, i clicked yes, and would reboot right after. Then as it said, it would ru on start up, and remove what it could before, and then i would normally run it a few min after to be shure it was clean, and there would be the same files it ridded from my computer 5 min earlier.Same with adaware. From what i have heard, MS is planning to make this a payware program, even if they do, its better just in the beta stage than any other free/payware i have seen.Spread the word though, i would like to see more people get this downloaded, and clean their computer. :-jumpyRegards-- :-wave Chase Barnett
January 8, 200521 yr First of all, thanks Chase for pointing out this great programme.Secondly, thanks Greg for being your usual " source of very good information" I'll re-install Adaware right now to run along side the MS programme. Thanks.Russell.
January 9, 200521 yr I've been using it for a few days, and can echo what others are saying. if you have any hesitation, I think it is misplaced. this appears to be a very good piece of protective software, even as a beta, and especially at no cost.Sherm
January 9, 200521 yr Mmmm, just ran the MS programme after my boy had been online, and it gave me a clean bill of health. Straight away ran Adaware and it caught 13 adwares. Seems it's best to have both.
January 10, 200521 yr I just ran it after running Adaware and Spybot, both with new definitions, and it found 3 spyware programs. Hmmm, this is looking good! If MS gets into this business it might solve the problem! thx for the info!!!!billg
January 12, 200521 yr Hi All,has Microsoft bought Giant then? The MS Beta spyware is exactly the same as the Giant spyware program I had about 2 months ago on a month's free trial.Very Good piece of kit though!!CheersPHIL
