December 16, 200619 yr HiI built a new PC for FS X:Intel 67004 GB memoryMotherboard ASUS P5N32-SLI SE DeluxeWindows XP-HomeGraphic adapters:Nvidia 8800 GS (Driver 97.44) (in the future for Windows Vista)and Nvidia 7600 GT (Driver 93.71).Both of this two graphic adapters work perfect seperatly in my system, but when I put both in the PC I get a blue screen and Windows reboot and reboot and reboot!!Can I run this two cards together in my system or NOT?Thanks for feedback!Peter / LSZH Switzerland
December 16, 200619 yr Allcott is right, just use the 8800GS.Not absolutly certain but if memory serves me correct you can use different card's in SLI mode but they need to be the same GPU Series. So you could run a 8800GTX from a different vendor/manufacture than your 8800GS and should be alright. I didn't want to take any chances so I bought identical cards (Same GPU Same Manufacture/Model#) when I set up my SLI rig.On that system you should still get pretty good results using your single 8800GS.Blaze RE Thomason Jr.
December 17, 200619 yr So, where did he mention he was trying to run them in SLI?The "oh my God, what were you thinking" is totally misplaced - in theory the two cards should both operate independently at the same time without issue. They are both nVidia, there is only one set of unified drivers etc.
December 17, 200619 yr There is an single nvidia driver that would work for both.http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1524"This driver was found on Station drivers. In it's original form it is supposed to be a GeForce 8800 driver. We however have modified the driver to work with pretty much any GeForce graphics card to date. "Thats the driver I am using. Its suppoed to work for the 80 series and the 70series. I would be interested in this as well. I have the 8800GTX and I have nthe 7600XT. BTW..What would I gain by using 2 Video cards? December 17, 200619 yr MannyI downloaded this driver and will test it with my two graphic cards:Nvidia 8800 GTS and Nvidia 7600 GT on my new Windows XP PC and then report. It would be super if this driver works for both cards! Can we als expect new versions of this "unified 7XXX 8XXX" driver in the future?Peter / Zuerich / Switzerland
December 17, 200619 yr Magic manThe unified Nvidia driver does not work for the 8800 series, they use a special 8800 driver; that is my problen that you cannot have two video drivers in one PC. So I will try now the "special driver" that Manny stated in this answer.Peter
December 18, 200619 yr Hi, I don;t know if this will help you or not.I have the following cards in my comp. and they work fine. You must set your mob. up for single card mode. I use three monitors for my fsx sim. MOB. ASUS A8N-SLI. ( single card mode ) One Nvida 6600 GT one Nvidia 7600 GT ( primary card ). I use the drivers that came with the 7600GT for both cards.
December 18, 200619 yr There's no such thing as an 8800gs. There is a 7900gs though if that's what you mean. There is an 8800gts and gtx.

Peter's doesn't because his can't. It's a simple matter of hardware FACT that unless you create a separate hardware profile you cannot have two set of drivers for a video display installed at the same time, and even then you cannot access each at the same time. PCI-X is NOT AGP/PCI.Peter, you will NOT fix this issue with different drivers. YOur hardware is fundamentally incompatible Give up. Buy a second 8800 and SLI it, or buy a Matrox Triple Head and run everythnig off the one card.Allcott

It works perfect with "normal" applications like the browser, mail etc. What I tried out:1.I have 4 monitors and my Nvidia-setting is to use the for monitors each one separatly. This works for 2D applications as stated above.Result: but when I use FS2004 or FSX all is very slow and also the mouse pointer is bumbping. 2. The same 4 monitors but definded each graphic adapter as extended horizontal desktop; the FS2004 / FS X is running fine. But it is not what I want; I want whad I had on my "old" PC, a config with total 6 screens:1 AGP adapter: one exit to the Matrox TH2G (3 screens), the other exit to an other screen.2 PCI cards with one screen eachHow can I do this with my Nvidia 8800 GTS and 7600 GT? Please help me!!Thanks Peter Peter Pilot Cheeseair-VA CHE1945 www.cheeseair-va.ch
December 18, 200619 yr Have you tried contacting nvidia? They could tell you if it will work or not. Sometimes manufacturers will say it wont work when it really will with hacked drivers so they may not be any help to you anyway.
