In any case, If you've got the $$$$, the Nvidia card is probably faster.Check out Tom's Hardware for more info...I found this article:http://www6.tomshardware.com/2007/10/01/th...oney/index.htmlHave fun!

The Nvidia 8800GT, launched yesterday, is by far the best deal out right now. It has better performance than the 8800GTS 640mb, for half the price of the 8800GTX. It's based on the new 65nm processes, so it consumes less energy and runs cooler too. The performance difference does not justify the price difference between the 8800GT and GTX.

That's good info and I think I saw something on Tom's website under the graphic card section that eluded to this....which means I'm now going to have to find a way to sneak two of these into my computer past my wife!

Yep, the 8800GT is a good deal. But bear in mind that FSX is CPU bound and if you are expecting to get a significant improvement in frame rates you will need a faster CPU rather than a faster GPU. That said, the performance of most other games depends on the GPU and you will see good results with the 8800GT, particularly if you can wait for an overclocked model.http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html...W50aHVzaWFzdA==Anyone know when the high end nVidia 8800GTX cards will be given the die shrink like the 8800GT? That should be an awesome step change...Cheers,Noel.

The new 8800GT (65nm G92) is best bang for buck according to the latest reviews. AnandTech calls it "The only card that matters" and says in their review "The performance advantage and price utterly destroyed our perception of the GPU landscape."See http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3140&p=1Everywhere it's reviewed people are all saying the same thing.

Only it'll be called something else, like 9700GTX maybe. :)RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Wait for DX10.1 cards due Nov 15. PCI 2.0 makes a lot of difference for graphics throughput, so will the improvements to the shader technology.

I was waiting for DX10.1 cards to hit the market, but I've read (personally I have aboslutely no clue) from many different sources that the difference really won't be that big and anyway it will take time before any game can use it. I don't know much truth there is in it or if it's just FUD.So I ordered an MSI 8800GT 512 overclocked by the factory and been running it for a couple of days. I only bought it because my old ATI X850XT that I was very content with, can't run some newer games because of lack of pixel shader 3.0 But I must say that FS9 looks much much better with the new card. I was prepared to pay some 400

Consider an evga as they have a 90 day trade up program, you get the full price of your card towards a new one.I'd suggest an evga 8800GT Overclocked today, but if you cant find one the new 8800GTS SSC, is very nice as well. Again both offer trade up options as the GPU market is about to change...
