November 15, 200718 yr Can anyone comfirm that the Saitek yoke problem has being solved? And that the Yokes you get now are working ok.Thanks in advance to all who reply.RegardsBill
November 15, 200718 yr Yes, I'm keeping an eye on this issue as well. I would like to order a new yoke and a pair of throttles as a Christmas present but am very hesitant at this point.Appreciate anyone who initially received a bad yoke who can let us know here if it has been resolved in their particular case.Thanks... November 16, 200718 yr I received the Pro Flight Yoke yesterday 11/15/07 from NewEgg. I tried it on a 40 mile flight from KCIC to KMYV using the ILS system for 14 at KMYV. Absolutely no problems. Everything was very smooth and no hardware failures of any kind. This was in FSX Windows XP SP1.I have been trying to get the Saitek Pro Flight yoke from NewEgg for about 2 and a half months now and they just started to carry it four days ago. I think maybe the delay was to make sure the Yoke was OK now. NewEgg is very careful with what they sell as near as I can tell after dealing with them for two years.Unless the yoke problem springs up after using it awhile I can say at this time that the yoke from NewEgg seems fine. I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews here so I tried the yoke immediately after getting it. The only concern, and this may be foolish, is that a date on the products box had a May on it. That may mean nothing as to the manufacture date of the product inside. Could be an old shipping box that Saitek is using for shipments until they get new containers. :-) In summation I am extremely happy with the product at this time.Gary
November 16, 200718 yr Thanks Gary! As I die-hard NewEgg customer myself, I really appreciate the specific feedback. I will definitley look into it for XMas wish list item. Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
November 17, 200718 yr HI,After a little further research after I posted the last E-Mail I found that the problem Yokes seem to be with the starting serial numbers, 0047s and a few 0048s. The latest serial numbers from Saitek - Germany are 0049s which mine is. This to me would indicate that the 0049s up are the fixed products. Just a little detective work as I like to feel comfortable with what I'm usihg. :)Gary
November 24, 200718 yr I had a Saitek Yoke for four weeks, I had issues with the "phantom" button presses, concluded that Saitek where in no hurry to sort the problems out and got a refund in the end (thanks flightstore). If you visit the Saitek forums you'd think twice about these units, I'd wait till early 2008.RH
November 25, 200718 yr Got mine a few days ago and have had zero issues with it. Serial number is SZ00504720. Couldn't be happier works like a dream.
November 27, 200718 yr Just got mine today, serial number 0050... seems to be fine, no problems on several short flights in different aircraft. But, hold on, there's MORE!A single page of printed instructions show the installation of a "white board," which is a 3" square add-on box that installs with two screws on top of the yoke base. A plain white cover is supplied, apparently for writing short notes with a dry-erase marker, but that same piece of paper goes on to show how to mount the "Pro Flight Instrument Panel (sold separately, coming in 2008!" There's no mention of that device on Saitek's web site.Anyone have a clue as to what this will do? It looks cool.-z-
November 27, 200718 yr Well I have just bought a 0047 .I find the aileron and elevator axis have no sensitivity...that is they are full on or full off!. Anyone else have these problems :-hmmm regardsEdaka Capt. November 27, 200718 yr >A plain white cover>is supplied, apparently for writing short notes with a>dry-erase marker, but that same piece of paper goes on to show>how to mount the "Pro Flight Instrument Panel (sold>separately, coming in 2008!" There's no mention of that>device on Saitek's web site. There is a mention of it:"Use the integrated USB Hub to easily connect other parts of the Saitek Pro Flight range of products, such as additional Pro Flight Throttle Quadrant or Pro Flight Instrument Panel (both sold separately)"........but no mention of exactly what it will do. If you look at the top of your yoke, and at the design of the "whiteboard" bracket you will see that a total of three of these may be mounted on top of the yoke..or that these brackets can be attached together horizontally and fixed elsewhere.I removed the screws from the mounting holes on my yoke and utilized them to mount the yoke under my desk.
November 27, 200718 yr Does the yoke come with the throttle quadrant? At Saitek's website they make it sound like it does, but then further down it says sold separately. Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
November 28, 200718 yr >Does the yoke come with the throttle quadrant? At Saitek's>website they make it sound like it does, but then further down>it says sold separately. Thanks,RonYes, one throttle quad is supplied with the yoke and you may buy additional throttle quads seperately.
November 28, 200718 yr Thanks for the reply.I spent a lot of time researching it today and I don't see where I get anything better than my CH yoke.I have more buttons etc on my yoke if I don't count the ones on the throttle Q and I am not sure what I would use the extra buttons for.I have been using CH yoke for a long time and I have my keyboard customized for a lot of button functions.Any advice or suggestions? Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
November 30, 200718 yr I just returned my SECOND Saitek yoke to Amazon.com, this time for a full refund. I bought one of these when it first came out, then did as they suggested and returned it for a replacement and and the second one was even worse. I'm tired of screwing around with it, having tried with two different systems over 2 months, and it appears Saitek is very apathetic about the whole thing. I've never had good luck with Saitek products not their customer service. I ended up going back to my CH Yoke and separate throttle quadrant. If you're going to buy it I suggest some place like Amazon.com, as they will pay shipping both ways on defective products.Good luck -- Chuck B. November 30, 200718 yr I got one for my birthday yesterday and can say that it works very well and I am having NO problems at all. My serial number is the newer 49 one. I have no phantom presses, and it has GREATLY improved the realism of the simulator. Finally it feels closer to what it is like when I am up in the air for real.danon - -
