Found 1 at a computer show in Allentown, Pa. $289.00 plus tax. Also bought a 650 watt Power Supply just to make sure all will work.

Geofa,Just visited your blog site and went through all your movies. I have to admit I didn't know you were a Musician. Wow..that's great. I, too, enjoy playing my keyboards at home. Don't do gigs anymore, but music has always been my love. I'd love to hear you in concert...even if you somehow put a link on your site to a single number. I'd love to hear something. The flight videos and photos are really excellent, and provided me with much enjoyment. I wish you well in all your flight adventures.Stanps. I'm installing the GT and Power Supply tomorrow (Tuesday). I should be able to give you some feedback this Thanksgiving Week.BTW...Geofa. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes I'd like to hear your experiences going from the dualie 7950 card to the 8800GT.I don't know, I could be wrong, but I would guess that the 8800GT actually uses LESS or about the same power as the 7950GX2, since the 8800 is 65nm and the GX2 has two cores at a higher fab process...RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

CompUSA had an advert in the sunday paper for the BFG 8800GT @ US$269 IIRC.scott s..

I just ordered the EVGA 512-P3-N802-A1 GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB from newegg they just got them in ....289.00US which I thought was a decent price.I have to admit I never seen so many positive reviews abouth a card at all the hardware sites.Andy

you guys seem to know what is going on with the hardware end of things, I have the following computer specs:AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 at 2.6GhzASUSTek Computer INC - A8N-E moboPCI-Express x16 graphic interface2gigs of DDR memoryRADEON X850 Series w/256 MBI am running FS9 full tilt with no problems - however with the release of GE X - oh man I want to run FSX so bad now! I used to have FSX on it long before SP1 came out and I just couldn't handle it - just to jerky - not smooth - so I went back to FS9 but now would like to give it another try - but I'm hesitant - even with SP1my question is would one of those vid cards (EVGA 512-P3-N802-A1 GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB) would this really help? or ??thanksciao!Brian Sp.s. what I mainly want from FSX is the high resolution ground textures! man I think that is where FS9 is so ugly looking - I do mostly bush/charter flying - of course trees and some boats would be nice as well.....

Ciao!

I'm really tempted to purchase this card but I think i'm going to hold off until Dec for the new 8800GTS.

ahh, thanks for the heads up on this one coming - I guess its pretty close to coming out then?bummer though it only has 320MB I wanted a card with at least 512 - will the card come out with 640?thanksciao!Brian S

Your motherboard is identical. Our system mem amount is identical. We both have San Diego core cpu's, although you have the notch or two higher one (FX55). I am overclocking to your cpu's level.Having said that, *you* should be able to run FSX quite well on that machine, because I can.I would say, if you had bad performance problems with FSX when it was released, there was something wrong in your config, because FSX ran pretty good on my hardware the day it came out, and you have the same hardware as I do. Except for vid card.Which brings me to the ATI X850 card. That card is the weakest link in your system, hardware-wise. Perhaps that is part of the reason why my system runs FSX well, and yours does not? After all, it's the main difference between our two systems.Would the 8800GT help you? Probably a little. But keep in mind, if you have OTHER SYSTEM CONFIG ISSUES, then you will still have problems running FSX fluidly.Keep in mind, if you get the 8800 card, you still will run in DX9 mode unless you run Vista, and FSX+SP2.You may ask, "Well, my system runs FS9 perfectly, so why can't it run FSX at least decently?" The answer is, FSX is far, far more demanding on the rig than FS9. The payoff is higher fidelity (such as ground textures, etc.). FSX brings out a weakness in a system like no other prog.I think you said you like bush flying. Well then FSX is for you. Our computer can run FSX extremely well in rural areas, and can even handle urban areas too but with settings turned down a bit to compromise.Sorry about the treatise, but hope it helps you make your decision...RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

thanks for all that, yes that all made perfect sense - now don't get me wrong, i had it running fairly well, in fact very smooth when flying out in the boonies, but then if I wanted to fly over any city or even a small town, choke time!but that was before sp1, so I think with SP1 and I'm planning now on ordering the EVGA 8800 GTS 640MB PCI-E card - amazon has it in stock now and I'm overnighting it, so I will tell ya all tommorrow how it all goes.the GTS is out now, I don't understand the other post saying about waiting until December.. thanks againciao!Brian S

>now on ordering the EVGA 8800 GTS 640MB PCI-E card - amazon>has it in stock now and I'm overnighting it, so I will tell ya>all tommorrow how it all goes. That's the "old" card, you do know that? Don't get me wrong, it's a great card, too! The new card is the 8800GT. The "old" cards are the 8800GTS and 8800GTX.>>the GTS is out now, I don't understand the other post saying>about waiting until December.. >thanks again>The "wait until December" thing he said, might have been a reference to the 8400GS, which is due out then. Or maybe it was just a reference to waiting that long to let the price drop down a little, and supply ramp up. ??RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Just to add to the confusion, there are "old" 8800 GTSs (like mine) and there will be "new" 8800 GTSs out very soon. nVidia apparently didn't like having a GT that outclassed a GTS, so the GTS spec has been upped. Here is a link to a review comparing the old and the new 8800 GTS: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardw...ion-review.htmlGary

Sorry, should have been a little more clear. The "new" 8800GTS set to be released in Dec will be based on the G92 and should be faster than the 8800GT. I currently have the 8800GTS 640mb so that's why i'm waiting to see what drops in Dec.GeForce 8800GTS 512MB specifications confirmed G92 core chip * 128 SPCore clock 650 MHz, the SP clock 1625 MHz256 bit memory interface * GDDR3 memory clock 970 MHz (effective clock 1940 MHz)The new version of a black double-slot fan (non-fans of the original GTS)Price 299 to 349 dollars * 12 / 3 listingg928%38%300gtey3.jpg
