January 15, 200818 yr Rob,This is not an LCD monitor. It is an LCD TV. You must pay close attention to the specifications when utilized with a computer. What you get as a max resolution for use as TV can differ from the max resolution you can attain when used with a computer. In your case:Supported Computer Resolutions: 1024 x 768 (XGA), 640 x 480 (VGA), 800 x 600 (SVGA), 1280 x 1024 (SXGA), 1600 x 1200 (UXGA), 1152 x 864, 720 x 400, 1152 x 870, 640 x 400, 1920 x 1080 Which means you can get the full 1920x1080 when used as a monitor or as a TV and there will be no stretching to fit the screen resolution. So, if this what you desire. You should have no issues at all with it. ;)I however recommend that you have a system capable of running it at the maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080. If you cannot the graphics more than likely will not be acceptable unless you are a great distance from the display.
January 18, 200818 yr Author Commercial Member Thanks, I am running a quad overclocked to 3.6ghz only use 2gig of ram due to win xp 32bit and I will be oredering the newest ATI card to replace my x1950 pro 512mb. This is all for FS9 so more then enough horsepower. Thanks again Rob Rob Prest
January 18, 200818 yr HelloBut it is still a television not a monitor, can you say BLOCKY Picture.http://www.freewebs.com/reading1871/30.jpg
January 18, 200818 yr >Hello>>But it is still a television not a monitor, can you say BLOCKY>Picture. It is only going to appear blocky if he is too close to it. The same would be true for a true 42" LCD Monitor.
January 19, 200818 yr HelloA 42" LCD monitor if you can buy one, would be running a much higher resolution than 1920
January 19, 200818 yr I have been running my FS9, and now FSX, on a 32" Viewsonic N3250W LCD (HD TV/Monitor) at 1360x768 resolution with absolutely great results. There is absolutely no "blocky" textures! I sit approx 34-36" from the monitor, and the picture in very sharp! If I do have a complaint it's that a large LCD monitor radiates heat, but inm the winter time it's actually a plus!Pete S. January 19, 200818 yr Author Commercial Member Yeah I'm not sure why that guy is talking about a blocky picture? I run fs9 on a 32 inch LCD at a lower resolution than the one I have just ordered and the pictures and imersion is stunning with trackir. Anyway the new TV is on it's way, and considering it's cheaper then my current audio surround sound set up I cant go wrong. Rob Prest
January 20, 200818 yr My currant tv is an lcd benq dv3250-sa(same res as the above 32") whiich I am thinking of upgrading to something bigger ..... it have a dvi port and I've been wondering how it would work out as a monitor for my flight simming.....the above posts are providing some thoughts to ponder.
January 20, 200818 yr If your Video card has a DVI out and the TV has a DVI input, it should work without any problems. Just select the DVI input on your TV menu and match the video resolution to your TV (Probably 1360x768X32)! It is worth a try anyway, you have nothing to loose. You'll be surprised what a difference a 32" monitor makes.Pete S.
