The $1150 yoke

Featured Replies

Umm...Affordable?To whom, may I ask?$1150 buys me about 10-11 hours of time behind the controls of a REAL airplane. That's all I need to complete my instrument ticket, so I don't think you'll be signing me up for one anytime soon. I'm sure there are some guys who are just drooling all over that though.

I don't think the price is that bad for the quality, you could easily spend that in a good restaurant and then a night out in central London only to wake up with a bad hangover the next day..I only wish it would buy me 10 - 12 hours in a real Aircraft for my PPL, I take it you don't live in the UK.Rob

I think of buying it - and the $2000 servoed throttle I saw somewhere else. And then I wake up.

That is absurd! If it came with the cockpit panel then it would be worth it.

I've had mine for a few days now and absolutely love it! Yes the price is a bit high but you will save a few $$ buying this one rather than the one from PFC. A good friend of mine is Capt on E190 but he also has a 737 rating and he was blown away when he saw it. Just my thoughts.

Wellall, I've had a PFC yoke for the last 10 years. Yep, 10 years and it still looks as good and works just as good as the day it was new. Saying that, the price was around $500 US back then, so that makes this yoke cost me about $50 bucks a year for the past years . . . a steal at twice the price. There is NO comparison to any of the plastic yokes, and I am sure this 737 yoke is of the same or like quality. If you are lucky, these days, you get what you pay for . . .Being a ex real world pilot and a serious simmer, I don't regret the price one single bit. Yes, you have to be able to afford it, however, if you can, going first class really makes a difference.Best to allClayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. Hi Clayton,I have to agree, I have had my PFC Jetliner yoke for a few years now. It is absolutely fantastic. This piece of hardware adds to my enjoyment of FS 10 fold. The only thing I wish they would change/update is to go to optical encoders instead of potentiometers.

"you could easily spend that in a good restaurant and then a night out in central London"-----------------$1150 at a restaurant and night out? I guess I'm more in the $11.50 catagory LOL

If you have never been in a real level D simulator, then you will never know what the feel of a real yoke is like. The PFC yoke is the next to the real feel and the plastic yokes are nothing but a joke in my opinion.Keep in mind, that people on this forum have spent a lot more money than $1150 dollars to get a computer along with all the software peripherals to enhance their visual effects etc., but fail to realize that the real deal comes down to a realistic set of rudders, yoke & throttles. Keep in mind that this is my opinion only and is based on many hours in a level D. Bottom line is that you only spend the $1150 once whereas you will be spending a lot more than this in the coming years of flightsimming.....Regards,jacj

jacj- Having greatly enjoyed PFC rudder pedals for many years- I can only lust for a Jet Yoke. But I would make the case that quality devices such as these are really secondary to the wide field of view of a Level D simulator. I'm convinced that the number one input for a simulator pilot is a wide Field of View.Consider the case of the Gimli Glider. In July 1983 an Air Canada 767 ran out of fuel at cruise altitude. With no engine hydraulics nor electrics and hence incredibly inadequate yoke and pedals response, the captain managed to glide to a safe landing!! Only a few injuries as a result of evacuation chutes being nearly vertical due to collapse of the nose gear- which could only drop by its own weight, without locking. And how did this near miracle occur? The crew was able to maintain a full 180

Alex,Agree that a wide field of view is important and love your pic's and envy your setup, I still like the feel of doing an engine out take-off and landing in a level D with 900ft ceilings and a realistic PFC yoke etc., but would not object to having a 150deg view either....:)Thanks for the attached pic.Regards, jacj

jacj- 1 mile visib. close enough? (Now to clean up and keep the bird flying!)Alex Reid"Victoria Tower- DF Baron with #1 engine out on takeoff. Request emerg. clearance for circuit and visual return to R27."http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/193558.jpg

Great pic's Alex. Wish I had a setup like that.... I'm having some CTD's to deal with right now and it's become a little frustrating. I think I'll start over with the whole setup process.Regards, jacj

"-----Wish I had a setup like that...."---------------jacj- you really should wish for something better! This setup is now over 5 years old- Athlon 1.8 & 2 GeForceFX5200 cards, FS9, Ultimate Terrain, Ground Environment and a number of aircraft add ons.I'm hoping for a call from the Smithsonian Institution, wanting to display it as an exhibit of early computer technology!!Can't help with your CTDs- don't recall ever having one. Still running with the original FS9 install- thank goodness!I have a rule to NEVER purchase software other than on CD/DVD- wonder if that's part of the secret?Alex Reid
