November 8, 200718 yr Yeah, Carenado have great planes. I've got them all, and love flying around my part of the world (north east Scotland, using scotflight scenery. Try the approach into r/w 31 at Insch - it's like the old Kai Tak approach, only with sheep instead of high rise buildings!).I like the 182Q, but my favourite (for now) has to be Cherokee.
November 8, 200718 yr Well, I just purchased the:Mooney and the Cessna U206G Station Air 6 Full Pack.Christmas starts as soon as I post this message!Yeeeeeeeeeehaw! :)I needed a good float plane for FS9. :)Oh, did I mention: Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw!?!Mitch

What a blast! The Mooney, AND the Cessna Station Air 6 Full Pack (Amphib and Land) is truly fantastic. What a difference it makes to the sim. The Cessna also is FSX ready for prime time. With this you get a Cessna that can land on both water or land in FSX, same as you can in FS9.Good purchase!Mitch
November 8, 200718 yr Well, after taking my first flight in the Mooney, I am impressed. Great handling. I'll give a full review after a few more hours in the bird. Since I don't own one, and have not flown one in the R.W., I'll limit my review of the custom plane(s) between it/them, and the stock MS parts.I will tell you though, that there are glaring improvements in both ground handling and flight characteristics right off the mark.Oh..if you want a real one, here is a search result that I found just after landing on my first flight. This plane does not come cheap!:Cheers!I'm just grateful that my 'new' M2OJ cost around $22.00...and no corrosion seen! ;)-------------------------------Here's the real deal...note the asking price and weep!Year 1994 Manufacturer MOONEY Model M20J 201 Price US $169,000 Location Detroit, Michigan Condition Used Registration Number N468S Total Time 1865 Hours General Information 40th Anniver. November 8, 200718 yr Well, I went out and bought it too - and I'm not disappointed! Beautiful v/c, the sound is great. The handling is 'edgy', meaning it's quite a responsive a/c. FPS stays at a steady 38-40fps for me unless, and here's an odd thing, I move the mouse. I've one of those wireless mice, and the effect is truly odd, it's only started happening this evening, i even notice it on the other a/c I have .. anyway, well done carenado, another fabulous a/c!!!!
November 8, 200718 yr I guess that you can't take this version into known icing conditions...non anti-icing equipment NOT installed. Can this model be fitted with anti-ice features?Great flyer.Mitch

November 9, 200718 yr I found that in the Mooney thread inside the FSX forum, there is a chap named John (757FO)that states he is, or was an owner of a Mooney, and comments on speed bleed-off of the real deal.I think that he, or others that are real Mooney drivers would be better able to write a review or comparison of our virtual Mooney to the real deal they fly.So John, (sign-on of 757FO)I invite you to write that review of which I know we would all appreciate reading, if you so choose. Thanks,Mitch
November 9, 200718 yr "I found that in the Mooney thread inside the FSX forum, there is a chap named John (757FO)that states he is, or was an owner of a Mooney, and comments on speed bleed-off of the real deal."I saw John's post and found it interesting. It's easy to adjust drag on the Mooney to make it hard to bleed-off speed--just change it in the .air file. But that would mean the engine tables are off if the Mooney is at or near its realistic cruise specs otherwise. I thought it interesting to note that the .air file in the Carenado package references the Mooney Bravo, so I wonder if the default Mooney .air file was tweaked here or there. There's some tables there that really need close attention to get the performance right. I don't mind. I made a small tweak to the .air file and a small tweak to the power settings. Have no clue if it's realistic but now it takes a while to bleed off speed on the Mooney :)By the way, I'm finding neat pieces of eye candy in the model. Set the tailhook, and the door opens on the cowling for checking the oil. Can't wait for the repaints to start trickling in.John
November 9, 200718 yr I was wondering about that, John, if the engine gull wing covers pull up and back to expose the engine bay? I wonder if the engine has also been detailed? What is the keystroke for the tail hook again? :)Mitch
November 9, 200718 yr "I was wondering about that, John, if the engine gull wing covers pull up and back to expose the engine bay? My tailhook command is linked to shift/t but it may be different on yours, depending on what your mapping is.John
November 9, 200718 yr Anyone working on a good RXP gauge config? I don't have this plane yet, but might have to pick it up. I don't really need any more GA planes, but there is always room for another in the virtual hanger! ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
November 9, 200718 yr Nice airplane. Just about the best framerates of any purchased aircraft added to my "fleet" to date.Tom
