February 5, 200917 yr Pedro, I set mine manually. Whatever the "maximum" size listed is what I set my initial and maximum to. I have been told that setting both the initial and maximum to the same size will reduce page file resizing. I have no idea if this is true, but I've never had a problem doing it this way. Victor BuckI'll try that. Thanks again Victor!Best, :( Pedro Lima"The sky is the home of birds... we are just guests... guests of honor" Peter Besenyei"...redundancy is very important in aviation; that is why airplanes have 2 wings instead of 1!" That is because when I install all the 4Gb in my WinXP Pro 32bit SP3, it only detects 2.75Gb. :( Do you know why that happen? :( Best,Pedro Pedro Lima"The sky is the home of birds... we are just guests... guests of honor" Peter Besenyei"...redundancy is very important in aviation; that is why airplanes have 2 wings instead of 1!" February 11, 200917 yr Next make a copy from fs9.exe. Than start "CFF Explorer" and open the orginal fs9.exe file. Now go to NT Header/File Header and click File Header. There you find a button labeled "click here". Click it. And select the mark at "App can handle> 2gb adressest "Save the modified EXE, overwrite the orginal one (You have youre copy saved?).Hello,Is this only for FS9 or you can do this to FSX too ?Peter Peter Belgium Flightsimulator is not a simulation, it's a way of life ...
February 12, 200917 yr Hi Pedro,I install 4GB corsair ram and somehow it shows 3.25, don't no why but it's there.Windows with 32-bit OS will not "show" all 4gig.DilipDilip, Pedro, this subject has been litterally beaten to the death on AVSIM forums. If you only search of OOM in subject line, you will find MANY more than one answer, and many explanations why is this happening. In short, 32bit doesn't support 4GB RAM, FS9 can use up to 4GB of RAM as virtual space, but not under 32bit system. And OOMs don't happen with MD-11, but with combination of various addons. Those can be from various developers. All you can do is monitor your virtual size in Process Explorer, and see that it doesn't go near 2GB. If it does, then your FS is going to OOM. Only cure is 64bit system (up to 4GB usage) or 3GB switch (up to 3GB usage). All this is independant from physical RAM size!!
August 8, 200916 yr Well, I just got the MD-11 a few days ago and I've never had an OOM on my FS2004 or FSX before. My system is running Vista Home Premium 64bit and 12GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600 Ram and I got an OOM as I was entering the descent profile for the EGLL-LSZH tutorial. This aircraft is a true beauty but I have to wonder why I get my first ever OOM message about an hour into a very short tutorial flight.Yes, I do have a lot of add-ons installed on my FS2004 but like I said, it's been rock solid since day one until I took the MD-11 into the sky. It almost made me cry.

My system has half the RAM yours has and I never have OOMs both in FS9 and FSX using the MD-11.Are you sure it was an OOM at all? Have you installed any scenery lately which might have caused any "memory leak"?Regards,Markus Markus Burkhard

August 9, 200916 yr I am not a subject matter expert but in effort to afford some possible assistance my comments as follows.I run FSX exclusively and have not personally had to do this.I believe that even though you are operating a 64-bit system that you still have to enable the "Large address aware" flag in FS2004 only. This is necessary to allow the program to access memory above 2gb regardless that system is 64-bit or amount of physical memory installed. See http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/Ya...239243552/15#15For FSX ensure that you have SP2 installed. SP2 enables the largeaddressaware flag. Also check:1) if you have any empty texture folders in your addon scenery files.2) A landclass file in an addon scenery folder when there is an accompanying texture folder. If there is a landclass scenery file, it needs to be in an addon scenery directory with no accompanying texture directory. Thanks for the tip. I downloaded the tool Nick mentioned and it may have done something. I will post back when I figure it out.

The tutorial flight from London Heathrow to Zurich went butter smooth with no issues after modifying the fs9.exe file to operate >2GB. Wohoo, the MD-11 is a very sweet plane. I also experienced some off things with the FMC as a part of the memory issue which was also resolved with the fix. Thanks for the help Gary A!!Flyboyandre
