May 12, 200917 yr To me they dont look too good even maxed out.Is there a replacement for clouds textures or an add on? To improve them?I use Flight Environment Extreme for most my clouds and water, and XGraphics for other sky/environment textures.
May 12, 200917 yr Check the AVSIM library. There are free cloud replacement textures that are excellent. I think the default clouds are probably the best when it comes to the "3D" full look, because it actually looks like the cloud takes up space unlike some other screenshots that I see of payware clouds that look 2dish. Clouds in FSX are 2D anyway. See You In The Skies...gman!"Impossible things are simply those which so far have never been done." - Elbert Hubbard

May 12, 200917 yr With Rex/Fex the clouds in fsx can look downright amazing..nice Viking!Funny I just uploaded a cloud video to my video page...maybe time to compare. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
May 12, 200917 yr With Rex/Fex the clouds in fsx downright amazing..nice Viking!Funny I just uploaded a cloud video to my video page...maybe time to compare.Cloud fight!! :( I will say though, that the clouds can only be as good as the weather engine, and I use Active Sky Advanced......Yea, that Viking is a gem Geof.....a Lionheart creation. Was flying it around B.C. this weekend (when I took the snaps above) after taking the Duke from Cleveland to Arkansas/Texas to the SW/LA then finally north to Seattle.
May 12, 200917 yr I dunno, my clouds look fairly 3D:Is that REX...? I don't really like those high res clouds: way too much detail imho. Makes it look too much like photographs of clouds being pasted (quite often the wrong way) into a picture. I use FEX-clouds (whispy white) but at a resolution of 512: looks more real to me... I don't even have those FEX-HD-clouds installed. (I also use ASA btw.)(I asked if this is REX because quite often I see screenies with weird clouds and usually they are REX-clouds. Like in the second picture: the bottom of the cloud directly underneath the plane looks to be upside down: the light is coming from the ground it seems. Looks weird to me...)I use FSX at 4096 res and they cant be beat.I suppose you meant FEX instead of FSX...? :(
May 12, 200917 yr The clouds in X Graphics look pretty good: It's payware, yes, but you get a lot more than just decent clouds. I've heards some good reviews of it too.Official site: http://www.hifisim.com/xgraphics.php
May 12, 200917 yr The default clouds in FSX look fine to me, but maybe that's because I upgraded from Flight Unlimited III.... That Youtube vid proves it again for me. :( If you want the best, get FEX or REX.

May 12, 200917 yr It's Real Environment Xtreme (that's the link) and price is: 39,96USDI have it, and love it. Tough, i don't use 4096, becouse it slows my FSX pretty much. Still, HD clouds are with 1024 (sim default ultra high general texture guality) very fabulous.
