I have purchased from the FlightSimStore the entire FTX series plus downloaded REX without the first glich at all. Possibly its a temporary issue. Its been a while, but it seems that REX had a downloader that prevented data loss. Its been a while, but I know REX is 2-4 gigs in size. So you are hardly getting started. I'm not too computer smart ... Like you, I have my ATP/CFII-ASMEL, but that doesn't seem to transfer over to these boxes. ;^) Hope it works out for you ... keep us posted, Steve
June 8, 200916 yr Are you using the downloader they provide or are you downloading the files one by one?You should contact them and try and pay the extra $5 to have a CD sent to you! June 8, 200916 yr Author Hi,I tried both, the provided downloader does nothing, sits at 0%. I have to reboot the computer in order to stop the downloader program. I burn my own CD/DVD's when my downloads are complete, I do not want to give this company extra cash for a CD/DVD because they are unable to give me what I paid for. How do you know for certain that your node wasn't exceptionally busy when you were trying to perform this download? How do you know for certain that you didn't have a bad hop somewhere between your location and the download server? I didn't see the results you got from your ip trace at the time you were attempting the download.Perhaps you should have researched the download option more thoroughly before you decided to buy REX via this method as opposed to the outrageous cost of $5 USD for a hardcopy delivery? Could it be that the immediate gratification thing is kicking in a bit here?Did you expect your download to be expidited by coming here to vent?We all have connection/download issues from time to time. Take a deep breath and relax, trust me, you are not the first person to have a connection/download issue through no fault of their own. Based on your experience alone we are all supposed to run in the opposite direction from the FlightSimStore? YOU'VE got to be kidding the rest of US.While I can sympathize with your frustration, I would spend my time writing/communicating with the people at the FlightSimStore to try and resolve this issue, you would probably get better results than you are going to ever achieve with a thread like this. My bet is that they would GIVE you the cd delivery for free if you approached them with the right attitude. You can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar.I have no affiliation with the FlightSimStore other than as a completely satisfied customer who has never had a problem downloading a product from any of their servers, free server or not.Remember the axiom from flight training, you know the one where you "never quit flying the aircraft", or "fly the aircraft first".Spend your energy taking appropriate action in the most effective way and I'll bet you get your "aircraft under control" sooner than you will with this thread.Just saying . . . :( :(

How do you know for certain that you didn't have a bad hop somewhere between your location and the download server? I didn't see the results you got from your ip trace at the time you were attempting the download. That's all well and good for other people, I have yet to get my purchased product. I see they had no problem getting my money, guess the node wasn't busy nor was there a bad hop during this process.Perhaps you should have researched the download option more thoroughly before you decided to buy REX via this method as opposed to the outrageous cost of $5 USD for a hardcopy delivery? Could it be that the immediate gratification thing is kicking in a bit here? Why would I throw away money when I can burn the disc myself?. If the FlightSim Store provided me with what I paid for, I would have burned the disc already myself. If I wanted Instant gradification I would have purchsaed when it was first released. So nothing is "kicking in".Did you expect your download to be expidited by coming here to vent?I'm not hear to vent, I'm hear to warn others of the problems I am facing in trying to get what I paid for and that they may have the same problem. There may be others who have experienced the same problems I'm having and chose not to warn others. While I can sympathize with your frustration, I would spend my time writing/communicating with the people at the FlightSimStore to try and resolve this issue, you would probably get better results than you are going to ever achieve with a thread like this. June 8, 200916 yr It seems that they have a strange way of promoting DVD instead of download those guys are going back to the stone age :( Sorry to hear you have troubles must be frustrating to say the least.Maybe to contact the store itself normally they are helpful people :( or sent an email to Tim... June 8, 200916 yr Hey Mike,Sorry to hear about your trouble but a few things first ok? On top of that, this company is hosting these files on MediaFire, a Free file hosting server, are you kidding me?You should do your homework a little bit better, Mediafire offers free items yes but believe me when I say that I pay an arm and a leg per year for the usage of part of their CDN network. Ever since we have started using these servers we have had no download issues whatsoever to be quite frank. Other companies that work the same way as we do are for example www.fsdreamteam.comSecond of all, before you came on here and had a moan, did you actually contact the FlightSimStore for help or not? If you did not, I fail to see what good this thread is other than trying to discredit a company before giving them a chance the rectify the problem. So before you ask me what makes me think that you haven't written them a ticket, what makes me think you have not done that is the fact that you are on here trying to fuel a problem that could have been easily resolved with FSS.As for my affiliation with FlightSimStore, there is none, as far as my affiliation goes with REX, I am the administrator over there.
June 8, 200916 yr Commercial Member Hi MikeFirst of all let me tell you that I'm sorry for the troubles you are experiencing in regards to your d/l. We have thousands of happy customers who have purchased REX via the Flightsimstore without troubles. There have been a handful of cases that required attention, and they have been promptly helped. As I've stated in our support forum, submitting a support ticket to FSS while awaiting Adrian's response would be the best bet to receive help. They are great at getting back to their customers. If you are this unhappy with the trouble this has caused you, I will personally inform Adrian to give you a full refund. June 8, 200916 yr Author Hello,As stated earlier, FSS was contacted. "Ever since we have started using these servers we have had no download issues whatsoever to be quite frank."Guess you are having one right now. I also find that statement hard to believe given the statement I just found on REX's web site that states the following."Hi All,We often get reports from users experiencing slow downloads and connection degradation problems sometimes resulting the timeouts and disconnections. One thing to realise is that REX is a big download. In fact it's over 4GB in size. Downloading this amount of data over the internet can indeed be difficult for many users for a large number of reasons, some of which I have outlined below.Server LoadThis was a major issue during the first week or two of the release. We had REX being served from 5 mirror servers and every one of them was under intense load due to high demand. We increased the number of mirrors to 9 to accommodate this extra load which was causing all kinds of error messages and download issues including very slow transfer rates.Pysical Proximity to ServersAll of our mirror servers are located at high speed backbone hosting providers mostly in the USA. For most users speeds will be quite acceptable but there will be times when due to the distance between your internet connection and the server speeds may be a little slower but still workable.Internet RoutesThis is something that most customers may not be aware of and is often a cause of slow download speeds and disconnections. When you request a file from our server the data may travel through many hundreds of routers and servers before it eventually makes its way to your computer. This means that if one of those routers or servers is experiencing an issue or is down, your connection needs to find another way to the server which may include several more "hops" to get there.Time of DayMany internet connections, particularly home connections are often subject to differing amounts of load at specific times of the day. One example might be that you have great speeds during the day or very late in the evening but not so great during "prime time" when the kids are home from school. All of these factors play their part in how well REX will download from our servers. Our suggestion: If you are experiencing slow download speeds, downloads that start transferring fast but slow down dramatically over time, or connection timeouts we suggest that you pause the download and exit the FSS2Go download tool. Give it a few minutes, go have a coffee or something. Then come back, start FSS2Go again and resume the download. Often you will find that you will get a much better connection again, or at the very least you'll have a good download rate for a while again. If you absolutely can't stand it and you're so frustrated that you're ready to pack up your ball and leave REX for good then STOP, take a breath and head over to the contact page at The FlightSim Store and submit a support ticket. We have other alternatives available and we're always very happy to work with you to a satisfactory result.https://www.flightsimstore.com/contact_us.php"I'm confused, you state you have had "no download issues whatsoever to be quite frank". Yet the first statement in the online notice states:"We often get reports from users experiencing slow downloads and connection degradation problems sometimes resulting the timeouts and disconnections." June 8, 200916 yr Second of all, before you came on here and had a moan,Man just relax he is just looking for help and frustrated in the process if you don't get that then you should do something totally different :( André
June 8, 200916 yr :( Good for you Mike, I hope you feel a bit better now that you have thoroughly discredited my statements.Yup, for sure . . . B) But yet still you are no closer to a resolution than you were before you posted the lengthy reply directed at me. I'm surprised you are an ATP pilot with your attitude. Most of the professionals I know display a much greater level of patience and maturity in their daily lives.I don't care if you think you are "right or not", I'm not trying to argue with you. Do you react this way everytime something doesn't go according to your expectations? No need to be so defensive or hostile towards others, even the FlightSimStore. That was all I was trying to point out. If I were you and really wanted REX, I would pay the $5 USD, and not frustrate myself with a troubling download or with wasting my time going on the "warpath".Just me maybe, but I have better things to do with my time. And thanks for the warning, I will be sure to keep my guard up the next time I order something via download from the FlightSimStore, I know they are out to "get us" . . . Relax . . . You can consider yourself "right as rain", I am only trying to prevent you from having a nervous breakdown over $5 USD. :( I won't respond to you again, I do have better things to do with MY time.:(

June 8, 200916 yr That paragraph was written well before we started using the CDN by Mediafire, so fair call, we should probably change that ;) Man just relax he is just looking for help and frustrated in the process if you don't get that then you should do something totally different :(I understand he is looking for help, I understand he is frustrated but the way the original post was worded was unacceptable, like we are some two bit dodgy setup that is just after people's money. Anyway, Adrian from the FSS will post here soon I expect and fix the problem, there is all sorts of alternatives available that we can offer at REX and there would not have been a need for a flaming thread on another forum ( read:AVSIM)
