Why is it difficult to find AI Airline Traffic, as you can easily, for FS9, for FSX?

Featured Replies

Any suggestions or tips? It seems that there aren't very many, or any, full airline AI air traffic downloads, like there are for FS9.

I think the main reason is because FSX change the format of traffic files. So now you have to design traffic files for either FS9 or FSX. To make matters worse, a single FS9 style traffic file in FSX can make all FSX style traffic dissapear. Since devolopers want to design the least for the most, many create FS9 style traffic files since they'll work in both FS9 and FSX.

Hi,Or many know that FS9 files will work in FSX if you convert them. So no need for putting things out there twice. There are batch converters out there that take minutes to do the conversions. Also, plenty of commercial AI Traffic programs out there as well.

Look here:http://www.world-of-ai.com/http://ut2.flight1.net/http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/re/ibosh...gi?showd,,10210The World Of AI is free and they have 548 packages to download. They have hundreds of packages that you can use in FSX, just make sure to covert the flight plans to the FSX format. Since Ultimate Traffic 2 came out I dumped all my WOAI packages except for the cargo packages that UT2 doesn't include.

Don't get MyTraffic X from Aerosoft their customer support is terrible for that product, they haven't got a clue what they are doing most of the time. Get it from Simmarket and you will be directly supporting the developer of the product Burkhard Renk (rather than lining the pockets of an intermediary) and he will directly support you the customer via his forum. You can expect to get updates far quicker with the simmarket edition too.

Cheers, Andy.

Confession of Ignorance time for me. :( Can someone point me to the "converter" application that will convert FS9 AI traffic files to FSX format? While I'm waiting for UT2 to be upgraded to include Cargo flights (as Flight1 sad they were planning to do), I'd like to convert some of those WOAI FS9 files so they will work in FSX. Also, I'm assuming I could use the same converter tool to convert Military FS9 AI files, like from MAIW, to work in FSX (without them preventing my UT2 FSX traffic from going bye-bye?).Thanks for any info.Rick

I have not used it myself - but here is one you can try - from Flightsim.com:Name: fs92fsx.zip Size: 790,011 Date: 12-02-2006 Downloads: 3,468 Easy Convert FS2004 AFCADS To FSX Format. A very quick and easy way to convert FS2004 (FS9) AFCAD files so they can be used in FSX. You do not need any real knowledge of AFCAD files or any other programs as all are included in this download. Also includes a small "batch file" that will help "auto convert" your FS2004 AFCAD files. By Ian Thatcher.Hope this helps.

Is that file an AFCAD converter, or an application to change AI Traffic Files? I don't see how an AFCAD converter would take something like an AI traffic file made with something like Traffic Tools and convert the flight plans, etc.Or maybe I'm just REALLY confused about this. :( Rick

It is an afcad converter - my mistake in not seeing you were looking for a traffic file convertor. The excellent Ai Flight Planner program by Don Grovestine has a built in utility to convert tarffic files.Yoiu can find it at Flightsim.com as aifp_v16.zip
Thanks!
Here is another option.....Instead of converting all of the FS9 AI files to FSX format, why not just replace the FSX "traffic.bgl" with one that has been converted to FS9 format and then you can use all of the fs9 AI files with no conversion necessary....Reggie Fields has posted these converted FSX "traffic, bgl" files and I have been using WOAI files and still have all the default traffic....Here is a link:Visit My Website

There was the small utility flie posted on Avsim called (FP FS9 FSX converter). That's what I use to convert all my WOAI FP's to FSX compadiblity. Not only does it converts them, it also checks the airport changes in FSX.Bill M
