Carenado FS9 Seneca, disaster. Again!

Featured Replies

Hey Dillion, I totally respect you're opinion so I want one...but I really wish that you would say something nasty about Carenado snubbing all of us who enjoy the 2D panel. Maybe that way they'll get the message and get with, (most likely), a very large portion of their customer base :)Mark
Even if Bill Leaming wrote them I don't think they'd listen... :(
Thanks, it worked but do you know how to reduce the steering ability on the ground because the plane turns so sharply. Also the rear/main landing gear "sink" into the ground when turning. Many thanks and your fix has helped me to enjoy this plane.
I really don't have a problem with the way the bird turns on the ground. What I found as a good marker (which in this case we have a good comparison) is to compare the characteristics of another developers rendition. FSD's version turns somewhat the same so this may be right. Both these developers I have every confidence researched the real birds before they modeled them in FS and since I'm finding both FDE's similar this may be how the real bird handles. As far as the sinking goes that may be a problem with the model itself. You don't want to adjust the contact points to a point the main landing gear is sitting off the ground in order to nullify the sinking in a turn. I'll have to look at this when I get the chance but it doesn't sound like a show stopper problem. The visual model most likely needs more gear compression enabled which is something Carenado will have to do.

:( It appears that they only care for our $$$ as FS9 users. They lost me at the Arrow. BYW, someone let me know when they pull out the "it's a FS9 bug" excuse on this one. I'd say buyer beware with them from now on. BYW, the Arrow STILL takes almost as much speed at a Citation or King Air to get off the ground.... I don't remember the one I flew requiring that....Dale Baker

For what it's worth I'm enjoying this add-on. It's cool having the older generation Seneca and the newer FSD model. Both of these birds are a joy to fly. I'm having zero issues with both the Arrow and the Carenado Seneca.
If I remember correctly (I may be wrong) you're the one that posted tweaks fixing the Arrow. Did you not have to do the same with this one? I find that unacceptable that the end user has to fix a product. Are you using the FS9 model?

Yeah, I totally agree with Zach...this kind of stuff is easily tested. It makes me suspicious, (to say the least), that a product would be released in that state. Especially after all the negative feedback from the Arrow. I've heard that negative press works better then a simple news story like "New Product Announced"...when it's "New Produced Announced Failed". Does advertising really have us that wired? What else can I think at this point...Mark

Yea I posted fixes for the Arrow. The only fix I made to the Seneca is what I posted above, no real issue for me now with this bird...

Guys / girls,Get TrackIR - then you won't need a 2D panel any more.Since I have bought TrackIr I never flew 2D again. (and this although I have designed some really nice 2D panels by myself for my personal use - so Ed maybe even you will convert to VC)TrackIR was certainly the best FS related buy I ever did. Immersion is perfect now. I haven't bought/downloaded any plane without VC since the.Sorry, didn't want to hijack the thread and promote TrackIr, but I simply think the era of 2D panels is nearing its end. VC is the future.Wolfgang

Hello Wolfgang, you probably know I mainly fly heavy iron. I just find GA way too slow for me.Having said that I like to remind myself why I like heavy iron so much by occasionally flying GA.If you want to promote the VC in GA then you should be urging Carenado to make ultra smooth 3D xml gauges. To not make 3D gauges as a GA specialist is pretty poor these days.I am happy to use the VC (with 3D gauges) with GA and if I flew them more I probably would invest in Track IR. (actually I did buy Track IR a while back)But with heavy iron I use 2D only. I love different cockpit configs (easily made with 2D), smooth gauges and I love photoreal.I have not enjoyed simming so much as I do now....and I know it will only get better for me with my FS9 and 2D panels.

Hey Ed,I agree, if Carenado wants to remove the 2d they should be using true 3d gauges in the VC... Real Air can do it, so can Carenado. Their latest FS9 releases appear to be rushed and even more disturbing it is like they have no one even testing these things in FS9 anymore. Or if they do, they don't care about fixing the FS9 issues prior to releasing these birds. Don't worry, the forum community will fix it for you Carenado ;)...Just on a totally separate note, I also did the TrackIR thing back with the original version and put it away and never used it again. Hell, I even tried those old 3-D glasses if you remember those LOL... But having said that, I went for the new TrackIR 5 on a whim and I am really impressed. IMHO they really got it right this time and it adds a ton of value. If you are a 2-D guy in the heavy iron, then it probably isn't great for you but hopping in the LVL-D or the PMDG birds and actually using your head to look around the VC and more importantly make those adjustments to your viewpoint on takeoff and landing, this is really unmatched. For example, being able to lean forward and look around the corner when taxiing (like in the real world) or to be able to land looking out the cockpit window and take those quick glances down to the instruments without touching a keyboard or hat switch makes it worth the money alone. I use it for taxi and takeoff then pause it with a button on my yoke and don't touch it again until I am below 10k feet on approach. The only weird thing is you expect someone to be sitting in the right seat when you turn your head, it feels that much more realistic LOL...It has really proven its value to me the 2nd time around. Just thought I would chime in for any others that fell into the same boat of trying it years ago and giving up or for those who never tried at all.Sorry for the rambling...-Paul

Track IRing around CLS's DC-10 VC or my 2D DC-10 panel?........no brainer for me. :(
I mostly fly airliners myself in FS9 even though GA is a big part of my simming for obvious reasons. I bought TrackIR 5 and almost gave up on it because the head movement in the sim was extreme with the slightest movement of my head. After adjusting the settings I'm finding it very capable in all aspects of simming and wouldn't go back to anything less. I use the clip device that attaches to my headphones. Airliner flying is much more realistic with TrackIR 5 than before. Ed you'd have to try the latest version and set it up properly (5 minutes at tops) to see the advantages. Head moving is smoother than panning and hands down it's the next best thing to being there...

I have just been testing the autoland of the Aerosim DC-10, and all the way down, I was using the VC. Well, I do a mix of the 2D and the VC, but that's not my point. my point is that I just realized how nice the VC was. Just sitting there, looking through the windows was sort of awesome... If I had Track IR, I'm quite sure I'd like it even more. Problem is, TrackIR 5 is so darn expensive!

You know, Carenado is starting to remind me of the old PSS bunch. They started doing things like not addressing bugs just releasing new stuff towards the end. It's starting to look like they are trying to milk us FS9 folks for all the money they can.Question, can ANYONE get the Arrow when it is correctly trimmed for take-off, actually get it to rotate and climb at 75kts indicated?Dale

The guys on the FSX side are complaining as well, it's not just the FS9 version...
