July 27, 200916 yr I might grab that and report back.. looks awesome! Would be nice to replace my sorely missed HoverControl B412. :( Tried it in FSX but couldn't get over the rotor disc issue, so off it came... :( -Jason Peters, MSgt, USAF Ret.Charter Pilot (SIC). July 28, 200916 yr I am licking my chops to get this 412. I'm hoping to see the B212 for FSX too. The detail on this one is outstanding! Keith Guillory
July 28, 200916 yr Moderator Glad you pointed this one out Ryan. I would love to buy after someone reports back. The screen shots look good and I wouldn't imagine to much of an FPS hit on this one, if any. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
July 28, 200916 yr Well I jumped in and grabbed it last night. Took it for a spin and am very pleased. What a great model. Systems are not very in depth, but there is enough of a startup sequence to build the immersion and thats all that really matters in the choppers for me. Flight model is a tad twitchy, especially in the pitch axis during forward flight, and yaw during all phases. Similar to most FS heli's I've flown. Overall, in my opinion a good buy if you are a fan of the B412. :( -Jason Peters, MSgt, USAF Ret.Charter Pilot (SIC). Citation II, V, Ultra, & Excel Comm-ASEL, AMEL, IFR, & Flt Engineer-Turbojet
July 29, 200916 yr Moderator Thanks for the info Jason. I think I will most likely buy this this week. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 2, 200916 yr Moderator I just bought it last night. So far I like it a lot. I had to mip the textures myself, but aside from that it looks really nice. Even has a spot light that you can move. However, it's hard to fly and use the spot light at the same time using the mouse. In my opinion is easier to fly than most of the choppers in FSX. Seems very stable and easy to hover. Not very twitchy either like the default choppers are. It can get going very fast and can be hard to slow down quickly unless you dump the collective and pull back on the cyclic to bleed of speed. Also, the popup windown is easy to use to add or remove the portable APU, pitot cover, doors, and engine and cargo doors. You can even click on the notch next to the door hinge and the doors will be removed. I was unable to get the side doors to open however. Interior and exterior lighting are also good, however I couldn't get the dome to turn on using the switch which made some of the panels hard to see at night. The dome light switch was on and it turned on the panels, but the over head and center console was hard to read in the dark. Maybe that's just the way it is, i'm not sure. The sounds are pretty good as well, especially on start up and shut down.Overall, I think its a good buy because it's not overly complex like the Dodosim birds are, however it's not as simple as the defaults are either. Somewhere in between. You can't ctrl+shift+e either to start it. Although I was able to get it started and flying without even reading the manual. The only payware chopper I have beside this one is the Nemeth CH-53. I like it but it's a little more complex than I care for in a chopper, plus has a ground hop/shake that irrates me. Generally I only like complex fixed wing GA and airlines, not so much for choppers, but this is a pretty good being that is more complex than default but not as much as Dodosim. Now, I just need to find more paints for it. :( Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

August 2, 200916 yr Moderator Ok thanks i'll give him a shot. I have never tried to repaint anything. The 412 comes with a paint kit, but since I have never attempted and don't have any professional paint programs i'm not sure I could figure it out, lol. So far i'm pretty much restricted to making ADE's, photo ground textuers with SBuilderX, building flight plans for AI, object placement. That's about the extent of what I can do. I am spooked by repainting for some reason. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 2, 200916 yr Author I'm not the best artist but I do use Gimp (free) when post processing my digital photos. It is a pretty good program and I believe can handle .DDS textures with a plugin:http://www.gimp.org/ | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
