Texture Max Load Editor Released

Featured Replies

I am just going through a reinstall of FSX after a long time with it sitting on my shelf. I just purchased REX and I am wondering what computer specs are required to run such high textures. I have a core 2 duo. 3.0Ghz and a 512 video card (8800gt).thanks,Mark.

Hi Mark,I would take a look at the REX system requirements (quoted below) and see how your setup is compared to the requirements. Most people do not have much of a hit when using REX but it really depends on your hardware setup and settings.

Windows XP SP2 / Windows VistaMicrosoft Flight Simulator X (requires Deluxe Edition with at least SP1, compatible with SP2/Acceleration)Processor: 2.0Ghz+RAM: 2GBHard Drive: 15GB of free space for installationVideo Card: 256MB DirectX 9 compatible (512MB recommended)Other: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 - required for REX, download from this link.Internet connection required to download REX service packs and real-time weather data.
Quick update: I am working on a patch. A few things came up after the release which related to the application not being compatible with the 125% and 150% font sizes that can be globally set in the control panel >> Display. There were a few minor spelling and grammar mistakes found in the manual and tooltips so they have been fixed too.

Just got the donations account set up.It will be ready soon. Paypal just need to verify that money is going into my account.

PayPal finally verified my bank and the Donations link is now up at http://frostysoftware.com/donate.html.A patch will be available for download on Friday. Some problems with the service have came up since the release and there are a few little extra features too :).Steve

It works. Thanks for the great utility. Looking forward to others from you.

Rick Ryan

Looks great!Would be nice to add the other suggested setting controls to a single utility too, as opposed to separate utilities .

Best Ever FSX Tip: Adaptive Vertical Sync 1/2 Refresh Rate

The patch for the Texture Max Load Editor has been released. A message will be displayed the next time you run the TMLE if you have "Check for updates" enabled. If you don't, you can download it from http://www.frostysoftware.com.The service had a bug that meant it didn't write the value correctly. This has been fixed in the patch along with some other bugs.Steve

Tried the new version today and I'm still having the same issue, the service doesnt seem to work at all. TML has no problem changing the CFG, but any change to the display settings in sim still resets the textures to 1024.TML and service are both running, and trusted in sim.FSX AccelerationVista 64-Sam.

The TMLE service can't stop fsx from actually re-writing the TML value back to 1024 but it can check to see if it has changed. When it has been changed, the TML service will set it to the resolution you specified. As long as you keep the service running, the value will be changed back to the one you specified every time the service finds that the resolution is different from the one you chose. The change that the service makes will not be milliseconds after the actual value has been changed by FSX, This would put a huge load on the system.

I also have a problem with this.Everytime i open it, its says it can't find fsx.exe. Then, i insert the correct path and i can apply the tweak. But the next time i open it the same thing happens. I think it should remember the path and the little green v should always stay there. But everytime i open it, it is not there. The strange thing is everytime i open it, the correct path is there, but if i press apply it says it can't find fsx.exe.And when the service runs automatically it doesn't work, since it cannot find fsx.exe.Any hint?

It's very strange that it can't find your FSX.exe location. It gets it from the Registry key made by FSX. Have you removed this? Also, the application checks for the /fsx.exe extension to the FSX.exe location textbox. If this is not there or the file doesn't exist, it will display the "FSX.exe cannot be found." message. Please double check that you have found the actual executable and not a shortcut. The service doesn't depend on the fsx.exe location at all so it should run perfectly without it.

I didn't remove anything from the registry and all other add-ons find the correct path.TML Editor finds the path incorrectly. When i open it, the path there is:D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator Xfsx.exeinstead ofD:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exeand i always have to correct it.The last backslash is always missing. Even if i correct it and then the "Apply" works, when i open it up next time the backslash is missing again. My fsx.exe is the correct exe and not a shortcut.Shouldn't the little green v be there everytime i open the program if i already corrected it used it?1249708748-clip-21kb.jpg

Thanks for the information.I have been talking to my some of my testers who have 64bit operating systems and they have changed their registry strings so that the 64bit SetupPath has a backslash on the end, like the 32bit path does.I have added some logic to the application to check for the backslash and insert it if it isn't there. The problem should be fixed.A new version will be available later on today/tomorrow. :(

Thanks, Steve. Waiting for it.

Steve, i installed the new version but the problem persists. The last backslash is never there when i open TML Editor and i always have to edit the path. The only difference i see is that now, instead of a green dot, i see a red X where the green V should be.
