August 9, 200916 yr I need to upgrade my PC as I think I have a mobo problem affecting my Graphics cards.I already have the HDDs and a CoolerMaster case, 850W Power supply.Having read with great interest at the posts hailing the qualities of the i7 CPU, the oncoming Windows7 (64bit), I thought I would try and nail my PC finally to get the utmost out of FSX and all my addons.I would appreciate any comments from "those in the know" about my proposed set up below.I will not be upgrading further in the future due to lack of income so although some items could be replaced by less costly or lower spec, i am looking to get the biggest bang for my bucks that should last me for many years.many thanksGIGABYTE GA-EX58-EXTREMEXFX NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 Noctua SE1366 NH-U12P SE1366 Exclusive Dual Fan CPU Cooler, LGA1366 onlyCorsair XMS3 12GB (6x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz

Save some money and get a GTX285 instead. Also, if money and performance is an issue, go with 3X2GB RAM. Bert

I could always return it and exchange, but ask if the 295 is detrimental to FSX or whether it is only "beyond requirements" as far as FSX is concerned.
August 9, 200916 yr I have an I7 which I run overlcocked (Vista 64) with the supplied cooler just fine so try your new rig and check the temperatures before making the extra investment on an add-on cooler. You might save yourself some cash. August 10, 200916 yr On another thread someone said, that FSX can actually benefit from 2 GPUs, if "alternative frame rendering" or something similar is enabled in nVidia's control panel. August 11, 200916 yr Dangerous advice. You may think you have saved money but when you cook that i975 it will be a diferent story. Is that even possible? I thought almost all systems made in the last 5 years or so had overheat protection where the system would shutdown before that would happen.
