August 16, 200916 yr On my new build I'm undecided between which case to use.I've narrowed it down to two cases.1. Lian Li PC-A70B2. Silverstone TJ10Which one do you think I should use for my i7950, Asus P6T v2, with overclocking.Opinions please!!Thanks Arnold
August 16, 200916 yr Hi Arnold.Well, it is ultimately down to you of course, as if you go for one that someone else likes, you might come to regret it later but will be stuck with it.But, that being said, how about a picture of each one, or at least a link to the pictures so we can have a look.Personally I usually make my decisions based on other things, these include the following.1, it must be future proof and enable me to add other hardware items with ease.2, it must also be easily accessible to replace or up-grade items.(I have seen to many people struggle to get a nice new piece of hardware in the case without having to practically strip the whole thing apart first)3, I also look to get the most air-flow through the case, as the HDD's generate quite a lot of heat on their own, then you have the graphics card and RAM. If you have all of these things close to each other then they will ultimately heat each other making things even worse than they need to be.Then and only then do I look at how nice or snazzy the case looks. I pick my equipment from a function point of view rather than a eye-candy point of view.I just thought I would suggest these few things to you before you make you're final decision. I hope you don't think I have been too harsh with my points, but just wanted to give you some food for thought.Best of luck with whichever one you decide upon Arnold. Steve. Unlike the British Government, I actually Learn from my Mistakes.......... Windows XP Professional SP3, ABIT IC7 MAX3 MotherBoard, Intel P4 3.40GHz HT, 4Gigs RAM, Hercules Digifire Sound Card, Geforce 7800GS 512RAM Graphics Card, FS9.1, REX, ASv6.5, GE pro.FE.
August 16, 200916 yr You're not going to go wrong either way you choose. Silverstone and Lian Li are my favorite case manufacturers as I've used both. Had a Temjin 7 a few years ago and using a re-badged Lian Li full tower now. It comes down to price and aesthetics really, as they're literally the best manufacturers in the industry in terms of quality and enthusiast features (outside of custom manufactures like Mountain Mods).
August 16, 200916 yr I posted a thread a while ago about this, and narrowed down to the TJ07. Ultimately, I purchased the CoolerMaster CM-690. Couldn't be happier, as I saved hundreds and have a truely great case. Mind you I used to spend >$200 on cases and took a chance with this one. and it looks good...Out of the two: I'd say the Silverstone... ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

August 19, 200916 yr Is anyone running CM690 NVIDIA edition? I'm looking into getting one. Jacek G. Ryzen 5800X3D | Asus RTX4090 OC | 64gb DDR4 3600 | Asus ROG Strix X570E | HX1000w | Fractal Design Torrent RGB | AOC AGON 49' Curved QHD |
August 19, 200916 yr Is anyone running CM690 NVIDIA edition? I'm looking into getting one.I had one for my old Nvidia rig. It was nice when the price was the same at the standard CM690, the stock is now $70.00 (Newegg) and the Nvidia is $90.00 (Tiger). The benefit of the Nvidia was you got the side window for no extra charge as opposed to $25.00 to add it on. My latest rig runs a standard CM690 and I love it. I especially like it being all black (I don't have the optional side window). Overall you can't go wrong with the CM690 standard or Nvidia. You just have to decide what you want. Green trim, LED fans and plexi or all black with blue LED fans. The green did get old TBH. One thing I would recommend regardless of which case is to add higher flow fans. I use a Scythe 120mm 1900 slipstream in the aft, two Gentle Typhoons in the front, and one S-Flex above the Xig S1283 cooler. I kept the stock CM fans for the bottom intake and side. I did add the optional 80MM after a week and found my MB temps drop by 1-2 degrees. Overall it is the CM690 is the best case for the money in my opinion. Edit: Found this:Newegg deals:COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP Black SECC/ ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail $84.99 - $15.00IR = $69.99 with free shipping promo code "HARDOCPCASE817" Promo Expires on 8/24/09 Good luck.
August 20, 200916 yr My roommate's i7/4870x2 rig I built for him earlier this year uses a CM 690 (standard edition) and let's just say it *barely* accommodates his hardware. If you're going high-end do yourself a favor and give your hardware the room it wants to breathe. Just that much easier to install/uninstall as well.
August 20, 200916 yr Check out this case from Corsair. Wowza! Now that's a case :(Look at the cable management built in to the motherboard tray! I think I'm in love... There's even a cut-out in the mobo tray for installing an HSF mounting backplate *after* installing the mobo. Kudos to the design team on this one, really nice touches all around. I think I may finally have found a case better than my beloved Temjin 7
August 20, 200916 yr I have an Antec 1200 and I really like it. The only advice I can offer is this....Get an aluminum one... even if you don't think you'll ever pick it up and move it... just get the aluminum lolGet one that has cable management space behind the mobo. My 1200 has a gap between the back panel and the mobo where I have a ton of wiring, keeping the front neat and allowing better airflow.
August 20, 200916 yr Author I made a decision and am going with the LIan Li PC-B70 case. Its a new case from LIan Li and has a hole cut in mb for backup plate for vc.I ordered the case yesterday from Newegg along with a Corsair 850HX ps.Now I have to decide between the Thermalright 120 Extreme ultra cooleror the Thermalright True.Arnold
