Looking for good freeware Europian sceneries

Featured Replies

Hello all,I have reinstalled FS9 from scratch and this time round, I'm gonna be very tight on what I install and what not. What I basically want to know: what are the best freeware (not payware, I know that: Flytamp Vienna, various Aerosoft sceneries) sceneries out there for Europe? I'm currently downloading NL2000 (I'm Dutch, and it contains a lot of Dutch airports in very good detail), and I have various Russian airports, but for the rest I actually don't quite know what good FS2004 sceneries are there to be found. Thanks in advance

Have you checked this site?http://walhalla.mine.nu/fs2004/whatsnew.phpIf it has been released it will be indexed here. The best site of it's kind IMHO. :( :(

Oh, look's good! I'll check it out. Is there any particular scenery you can say that's exceptionally good? Apart from the Tolomachevo, Russia scenery?

Hey, thanks for the links! I'll check them out. To anwer your question: I intend to fly regional jetliners and "small heavies", and the occasional turboliner. Think of aircraft like the Boeing 707, 727 and 737, Airbus A320 family, Fokker airplanes (F50, 70, 100), ATR72-500. The occasional Boeing 767 or Airbus A330 maybe, but I think I'll be hardly flying airplanes as large as the Boeing 747 or A340. This is mostly because of time constraints. When I fly, I want my flight to last between 1 and 2 hours, but not longer, unless I can save the panel without losing all the systems. That's why if I do fly with a Boeing 747 or A340, I'll use the Overland planes (I don't have thw PMDG 747 and I don't intend to buy it) or I'll fly the LDS767.I hope this gives you some idea, but in general you could say I'll be flying the smaller aircraft, ranging mostly from Fokker 50 to Boeing 767 (in size). I'll be flying all over Europe, probably also the Middle East and Russia.

I really recommend LROP by the Romanian flightsim group: http://dl.flightsim.ro/ I was at the real airport just recently and was really impressed with how realistic this freeware project is.

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

BenjaminJust out of curiosity, what did you load in your previous FS9 chapter that caused grief? Or was it just a series of bad free or payware causing some problems?ThanksRich Perryps...I used to live in Amstenrade in Limburg...I love Holland!

Well, the problem mainly was that I had loaded in a great amount of scenery I just never used (yes, some of these were just plain ugly sceneries). When I removed them, all kinds of texture files and AFCAD files were left behind, just clogging up my HD. I want to have an as clean as possible installation this time round, so I'll be very strict on what goes in and what stays out. That said, I went through the entire list of freeware sceneries of Opa, and downloaded what there was to download. I think I'm all set now: I have an airports scenery for just about any capital in Europe. That should be enough ;-)

I did a flight around Europe in the cracking BAC-1-11 (also freeware) and collated a series of freeware airports as I flew around from Dublin to Helsinki, to St Petersburg, Gibraltar, Paris and back to Dublin, stopping along the way in many places. Took me 1 month to complete, but worth the effort. You've probably got them all from Opa's list, but the airports that stick out are the great freeware scenery for Norway and Finland. In particular, the Bergen and Stavanger airports are very nice. You can get those at FSNordic. The Uk2000 site (http://www.uk2000scenery.com/main/order.htm) also has links to some free demos. There's some Irish stuff too ofcourse, though I'm not sure if you can still can those online - the sites seems to have gone. PM me if you're interested, I'll see if I have them on the computer somewhere.Lastly, there was a nice freeware version of Bremen, worth getting hold of too.

OK Benjamin, You say you want best freeware airports for FS9? Here's what I'd recommend as such: - Milan Linate LIML (ISD)- Milan Malpensa LIMC (ISD)- Rome Fiumicino LIRF (ISD)- Venice Tessera LIPZ (ISD)- Naples Capodichino LIRN (Napulevola)- Helsinki Vantaa EFHK (FISD)- Salzburg W.A. Mozart LOWS (Gianni)- Klagenfurt Worthersee LOWK (Gianni)- Linz Blue Danube LOWL (Klaus Purstinger)- Graz Thalerhof LOWG (ADG)- Zurich Kloten LSZH (FreeZ) - if you don't use FSDT- Thessaloniki Makedonia LGTS (GAP)- Corfu Ioannis Kapodistrias LGKR (GAP)- Gdansk Rebiechowo EPGD (Kuba Paczek)- Bucharest Otopeni LROP (RSDT)- Prague Ruzyne LKPRSo, different scenery makers, but some offer quite a lot, like: - ISD (Italian Scenery Design)- FISD (Finnish Scenery Designers)- GAP (Greek Airports Projects) - or Gianni (Johannes Kimla)Additionally, all (except for Prague) of the above airports are AESed (some for free, others for credits).

Thanks rafal! Exactly the sort of list I wanted! I'll check out the sceneries I don't have yet.

Rafals list is as good as it gets and I second every one of his suggestions. But just to throw a little spice into the mix - it.s not Euroland but it

If I go on trips to Israel, I might as well go that way too. Thanks for ther suggestion!I have by now installed just about all sceneries and taken a look at most of them. I didn't download all of the sceneries in Rafal's list, mostly because multiple were in the same country and I'm afraid two or three is by far enough for me per country (well, unless the country is extremely big (Russia) or it's Holland, where I live. NL2000 really is a great scenery addon, you know). I made a list for my own convenience of all the places I have, or will have a scenery addon for.
