August 21, 200916 yr Odd that I've never come across this before...I tried to post a link to a pic at airliners.net, and AVSIM forum system told me that links to that site are not permitted. Curious as to why. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
August 21, 200916 yr Commercial Member I could be wrong, but I believe it's because airliner.net doesn't allow it. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
August 21, 200916 yr The second paragraph under the "user conduct" section of the AVSIM terms of use (link provided in my signature below), as well as the airliners.net terms of use can explain this. Jeremy "rightseater" Fletcher
August 21, 200916 yr I asked about this in the past. Airliners.Net allows linking to the pages with the content but not the hotlinking of the content. According to what Tom told me, to prevent hotlinking of the content the only way is to block the posting of any content related to Airliners.Net.

In order to prevent violation of our terms and use, and those of our friends over at A.N., we block all links to them. Some people just don't seem to understand Terms or Use or want to adhere to them.
August 21, 200916 yr AN is a great website and a brilliant for aeroplane buffs, but there are many people who abuse it by stealing photographs off it and stuff like that, which is one of the reasons why many sites don't sanction linking to it. Effectively, linking an image from there which displays in a different location on the 'net is a breach of AN's copyright, and it's hard to miss that, since it is stated in numerous places on AN, and images found on AN all have the domain notice on them. You have to be careful of things such as that, which is why you've never seen any images from AN in my reviews. I instead tend to use NASA images, which are in the public domain because it is a US Govt. funded site, but even then I invariably ask permission to do so, just out of courtesy. If you want to mention stuff on AN, it's simpler to point out that things can be found there rather than putting a URL in posts, because I'm sure you will agree that it would be unfair to abuse such a great resource.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
