August 30, 200916 yr How on earth did the REX developers do that. Phenomenal! RhydianHave you seen what REX 2 does? The water textures, shadows on water, reflections, etc are just spectacular. They have been ahead for a while. MSFS
August 31, 200916 yr I just lost my interest in FS11... :( It will become more and more difficult for MS to beat FSX - to create a basic platform for 3rd PDs might be the only option. Until then many moons will pass by and i believe this is a good thing. Hardware catches up lately and the FSX engine will be used to it's full potential. It looks like FSX was just born... It's a pity that we can't get one more FSX update which fixes the most annoying bugs for so many developers. September 1, 200916 yr I seem to remember that Peter Wilding and team claimed they were on the brink of achieving this but decided for whatever reason not to bring it to fruition.Yes, I thought I wasn't going crazy, I remembered that too... It went around the FSforums like wildfire. But it was a shame it never appeared.Have you seen what REX 2 does? The water textures, shadows on water, reflections, etc are just spectacular. They have been ahead for a while.Totally agree DJJose! I have REX 2.0 and it radically changes FSX. Some of the sunsets on my system look real. Tim and team are a talented bunch of developers. Can't wait to see this for real. I wonder if the shadows move with the clouds or if they are static.CheersRhydian
September 1, 200916 yr Hi,I have been thinking about the break up of Aces and was curious if these guys knew it was coming and did develop FSX to fit more into the future. Many have talked about the poor coding in different areas but it is not a show stopper. It seems that most developers know the limits in any given part of the code, but I just wonder if Aces wanted to keep it alive as long as possible by extending the API's to further allow for yet to be discovered possibilities.RegardsBob

Just like we had to do back in the 80's. :))BTW, REX 2.0 comes up with some crazy-real scenes sometimes especially flying out of PAJN.jja Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist

September 5, 200916 yr I saw this feature in X-Plane and it looked really impressive! Trouble was I didnt like X-Plane at all and after about a week it got uninstalled. But I really found myself wishing FSX had that cloud-shadow thing going on. Now it seems its arrived. Well done to the REX team. I dont have REX yet but this news has made me decide to go running to their website :(
