So that means, if you create 4096 textures (let's say REX or FEX) and set your TML to 1024, you're still loading 4096?Then the only way to reducte texture load is to have REX or FEX create 1024 textures that match TML?obviously I know diddly about textures. :)Thanx,Vic
Only if those textures dont have mipmaps, non mipped textures get load at full res regardless of TML,mippedmapped textures on the other hand show from to what ever your TML is set toso if you had a 4096 texture with 3 mip levels (2048,1024,512) and a TML of 2048 FSX would never show you 4096 because you've told it to only access a max of 2048,on the other hand a 4096 texture without mips has no 2048 level so fsx is forced to load it at full reshope thats a bit clearer ;)LatersGizmo

Lest anyone get any fancy ideas, you definitely should NOT use DXT1 textures in scenery without mips. That can lead to some serious graphic issues. On the topic at hand though, I have to say - this is one fine aircraft. I'm having a blast flying it!

I agree Bill. I've been flying it around the KBUR area, where I live, and I have time to see so many features on the ground that I really didn't pay attention to before. Whole new way of flying! Also noticed that you can turn UP some of the features in FSX w/o a performance hit. Seems like the Cub is slow enough that you can't outfly the texture load so the system has time to display other goodies.Still laughing though - took Nervous Heidi to 10K and spun down to 5K with her screaming "We're all going to die!" all the way down. When I did land her safely she was polite and said I was an excellent pilot - think she was afraid to say otherwise.Another thing I noticed - was not paying attention and taxied too close to a 737 that was starting up - darn if the Cub didn't lift off the ground and try to fly!!Fun aircraft!

I personally love tugging around in this bird. She may be slow, but it gives me an opportunity to enjoy some of the scenery packages I have purchased. I'm flying lower and slower than before, but I am absolutely enjoying the experience. When I am in a heavy bird, or something a bit faster, I tend to take it up a few thousand feet and/or I'm flying too fast to often enjoy the smaller details of these areas. This gives me the time, and with the good frames, the opportunity to enjoy them to their fullest. It also for me adds a lot of the exciting experience by keeping things fresh, which I can attribute to Accusim.Anyways, that is my experience :)

The other day I was flying near Montauk, LI, where I do a lot of my testing, looked down and saw a church I'd never seen before. Was able to look down through the open door and really take it in. A pure Cub experience. Add in the sounds, the performance and the feel, and you absolutely can't beat this.Re: controlling it well - I've found that maxxing out sensitivity on all axes and eliminating null zones does the trick. I calibrate through FSUIPC and am using the -15 curve on ailerons, elevator, rudder and brakes. But you can get a similar effect by setting maximum sensitivity and minimum null zone in FSX calibration. Now, finally, I'm beginning to get the hang of crosswind landings...Alan

An update - based on some great advice from Mitchell (Glicksman?) in this thread at the A2A forums, I've now toned down and balanced the sensitvities - am working with ailerons at -9, elevator at -7, and rudder at -3. Still fine-tuning, but this seems to provide a more authentic control feel. Mitchell has great suggestions for how to set sensitivities and null zones in FSX, along with an explanation of why this matters. Worth a look.
