September 14, 200916 yr The RC team is trying to confirm how under different visibility and wind conditions FS picks the active runways that AI use. We have quite a bit of information including several threads on the ADE9X forum and our testers have confirmed most of it but occasionally their is a discrepancy. It is a very complex subject so we are going outside the team for suggestions.
September 15, 200916 yr Hey all,I don't know anything about programming or developing FS Software but for issues like this, are addon on developers like JD not able to get back to people who may have worked for ACES during FSX development and just ask them what factors make AI land/take off on what runways? Surely plenty of you add on developers know the names or emails of some of the original FSX builders? Kael Oswald 9950X3D/ 64GB DDR5 6200 @ CL30 / Custom Water Loop / RTX 5090 / 3 x 48" LG C4 OLEDs
September 15, 200916 yr I expect like most developer team members that ACES are bound by non-disclosure agreements by MS including post-employment terms. That would prohibit them from disclosing any internal workings of FS unless published by MS in SDKs or MS allowed discussion in their blogs. We have looked at and are looking at postings by people in various groups dedicated to understanding how AI works by observation and setting up different testing environments. It is an extremely complicated set of rules that AI abide by for departure and arrival and the airport facilities needed (in code) for the AI to follow them. September 15, 200916 yr Commercial Member I expect like most developer team members that ACES are bound by non-disclosure agreements by MS including post-employment terms.Actually, these days the problem is more in getting in touch with any of them. When I saw JD's appeal I sent a message asking Tim Gregson (aka "Beatle") who is about the only one still regularly chatting to folks and helping out where he can. However, I've not had a reply yet, nor have I seen other recent messages from him, so I think he must be on holiday at present. There was a priority sequence of checks posted on one of the FS Beta Newsgroups years ago -- alas too many years for my current systems to have retained, though I've searched high and low.RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz.
