September 29, 200916 yr I don't know how to (if possible) tune these lights manually. However there are a few good light addons here in the avsim library. Give them a try!1. nicks_lightfix_v2.zip by Nick Needham2. lights_environment.zip by Anthony Vos3. rlights.zip by Holger Busekros
September 29, 200916 yr The only way I know of to brighten the taxiway lights in ( FS9 ? ) is to open each individual airport with AFCAD or ADE and click on one of the light strings to open its properties, there is a brightness setting there. I do not know for sure how high a number you can use. I believe the default setting is 8, and I have used as high as 15. This doesn't increase the viewable distance however. I hope this helps a little bit.Regards,Mel
January 23, 201016 yr The "halo.bmp" file doesn't seem to affect the characteristics of the blue taxiway edge lights, or the green taxiway centerline lights (as evidenced in the attached picture). I've interchanged several 'halo' files by various authors, and the taxiway lights are still blue and green opaque blobs of the same size, not sharp and crisp like the green runway end lights. You can adjust the brightness of the apron edge lights (apron light strips) in editing programs like AFCAD or AFX (I have both), but they do nothing for the green taxiway centerline lights.Does anyone know where to find these bmp files, for the taxiway edge and centerline lighting? Or are they non-accessible? They don't appear to be in any way associated with the "taxiway_marks.bmp" in the FS9 texture folder.~John

In addition with ADE9X you can also change the apron edge light color, (applies to the entire airport).Regards,Mel

I wasn't attempting to argue semantics, just my attempt to be as accurate as possible so people would know exactly what I was talking about :( . This has been a problem that has perplexed me for quite some time, and my search for answers still continues... I'll find those darn taxiway lights if it kills me. I don't like the hodge-podge of green taxiway centerline lights that appears at interections. Following a clear line while taxiing your aircraft isn't always easy. More often than not I turn the taxiway centerline lights off, it's less annoying. If I discover anything of significance I will post my findings.I'm gonna check out ADE9X. What is your opinion of the product? Superior to AFCAD or AFX? I use AFCAD and AFX interchangeably, as I like features that are unique to both.Have a great day!John
January 24, 201016 yr Moderator I'm gonna check out ADE9X. What is your opinion of the product? Superior to AFCAD or AFX?ADE9X is superior to both AFCAD and AFX, which share the same mistaken assumptions about the actual BGL format. Fr. January 24, 201016 yr I use nicks_lightfix_v2.zip by Nick Needham. It get rid of the balloon lighting.
January 25, 201016 yr As far as I'm aware the taxiway blue/green lights cannot be resized as can the rwy lights etc., However almost all the lights in question use the bottom left image of halo.bmpMy solution was to increase the size of that image so that the taxiway lights appear about right and to use the SCALARS in the .cfg file to resize the rwy lights.Vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA

July 9, 201015 yr Thank you very much for the suggestion... never thought of that one. Gonna have to give it a try! : )In your FS9.cfg file you may have an entry like this in the section headed [DISPLAY]RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=1.2You can increase the setting (but, at a guess, only as far as 1.9) to make the lights brighter. This setting affects the taxiway edge and runway edge lights. If that entry isn't there, it will default to 1.0. You can add it if its absent.John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org

July 10, 201015 yr But the original correspondent asked about brightening them . . .JohnYou can't "brighten" them!! You can only change the image to make them "appear" brighter either by changing the image or it's size. On my halo.bmp I have added flares which helps to keep the lights distinct at a distance and lends a sense of reality (in my opinion!).vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
