I've been away from Flight Simming for awhile. I tried to stay Current, but after the AVSIM file was hacked and trashed, I wandered to other things. I came back Today. Of course I had to retrieve my login name and password before I could begin. Looking at the newest downloads I see most of the new scenery is for FSX. I know we FX9 users fought long and hard to preserve the status quo. Has anything happened since I've been away to change our stick in the Mud stance? Old Bill :(

Bill- As of today, the ongoing AVSIM survey continues to show the majority (50.5%) of simmers still use FS9 vs FSX @ 47.0%. Looks like we continue to enjoy majority rule!Old Al

You know it is funny this topic came up because just yesterday i was thinking the same thing. II am a fs9 user, but lately all the add-on planes i have been interested in have been for fsx exclusively, so one has to wonder is fs9 lost in time, is it inevitable that fsx will have to make it on my hardive in the near future. Will be interesting to see what will happen in the next year with regards to fs9, especialy now that there will not be an fs11.

To many add-ons to buy to come anywhere close to my FS9. I donot have the hardrive for FSX and FS9.Carl Perry

And that is the same problem I have, too much money invested to want to make the switch over( and my current pc cant run fsx), im just wondering what kind of interresting stuff developers can come up with that fs9 dosnt have the technology to run(that is what worries me :) ) ex: the pmdg j41 or the new little j3 cub that came out from A2A, what is on the horizon as far as add-ons go for fsx i wonder.

I don't really think it matters. As it stands now, we have many many excellent freeware/payware add-ons for FS9 to hold us over and I'm ok with the fact that the newest and best add-ons are coming out for FSX. We will all (most) switch to FSX within a few years time anyways as system specs grow and prices come down, so we will all eventually experience all these add-ons.

No way! In a few years, or more precicely 2012 we will all be enjoying Aerosoft Flight Simulator and will forget all about MSFS.I know it's not yet 100% confirmed that ASF2012 development will commence, but it sure looks promising (80% according to themselves).I will happily continue using FS9 while I wait for ASF2012.

Aerosoft a few months ago started releasing products (not synchronously) again for both platforms.

I don't know. I wouldn't hold my breath. Look how many things is still wrong with FS after how many years of improvement. IF aerosoft actually does release anything in 2012...it probably won't match fs98 until 2016.
