Bouncing Problem

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,Recently, I downloaded the marvelous Abu Dhabi scenery by Matthew Ministry available on the file library under the file name "auh-omaa-abudhabi-fs9.zip". The only problem that I have encountered with this scenery is the fact that my aircraft always bounces during taxi and take off. I have tried disabling the scenery but it seems the default airport also has the same problem. Any idea what may be causing this?Aside from Abu Dhabi, I think the default Changi also has the same issue wherein aircraft bounce around as if on grass. Any help would be appreciated!Best regards :)

HiI dont have the scenery, but do have one rig with a 'virgin' install of fs - no addons at all.Just tried the default cessna and got bounce at changi as you describe but not at Abu Dhabi.Hope this helps.Dave

Too late to help you guys, but this happens when the "bitumus" texture is used for taxiways and apron surfaces. It is FS trying to simulate an undulating surface.

You helped me though!!! I am going to try to edit the taxiways to asphalt with AFCAD....THANKS A BUNCH!!

This is interesting. I posted pretty well the same question as the OP a year ago and while the ensuing discussion ranged from hardware to aircraft contact points, the problem was never solved. No-one mentioned taxiway textures and I never thought of it.I still suffer the problem, notably at default Nagoya and add-on Heathrow where any plane I fly can leap a few feet several times in the space of a minute or so. I once tried videoing the problem but the plane ended up at 45 degrees nose-up and buried to half way along the fuselage...I too will be having a look at the afcads tonight.Regards,Dave

In that add-on Heathrow, check that all your runways are set at the same elevation as the airport in general. I used to have a version of Heathrow that did what you say, but at specific places - particularly at the rarely used (now never, I think) cross one. The issue (or non-issue) of bouncy runways according to texture is quite different, and (incidentally) applies to more runway types than just the bitumin ones. I think concrete and asphalt might be only smooth ones, but I'm ready to be corrected. I guess you long-haul jet chaps never land on grass, dirt or gravel . . .John

Yes, at some airports there is bouncing! Even in real life!!!! Solution, control your taxi speed!vololiberista
No, as already explained in this thread download AFCAD and change the surface from bitumas to concrete or asphalt. This has been known for years..

Of course one can change it in afcad! My point is that a certain amount of bouncing at certain airports is realistic. Before the new rwy at Bangkok it was like a washboard!!!vololiberista

Not much help in FS.. About as much help as telling someone to write a guage to adjust the cockpit seat height.

Hey,I'm abroad at the moment with no access to my sim. It's been a long while since I updated any runways but from memory I was using AFCAD 2.21Probably much better tools available now but it does the job.Regards
