Camera definitions creation utility?

Featured Replies

Is there such a thing? Something that I can run in the sim, adjust the view and click - a new camera definition is created? Or anything even remotely close. I just want to set up wing views for a few aircraft.I used active camera for this in FS9. it was easy to move around the aircraft and set up the wing view you wanted for that flight.Any ideas beyond going to the SDK?

There was such a utility in the early days of FSX that I tried; it actually did create the requested camera. It also trashed all the customized settings already in my cameras.cfg and made no allowances (as best I recall) for adding parameters that weren't already in a default definition. Had I not already had a copy of my cfg, I would have been more than upset.... That utility was deleted immediately.Creating a new view is mostly a matter of copying an existing camera of the same type; giving it a new name and guid; setting the initial location to 0,0,0; moving the view in the sim to the desired location; save the flight; taking the translation and rotation values from the saved flight and using them as the starting point in the camera definition. -original new camera view locationInitialXyz=0.0, 0.0, 0.0InitialPbh=0, 0, 0[Camera.2.8] .... saved flight info after positioning viewGuid={60BC0819-BD04-4AF6-8954-8FC8AA3545FF}Zoom=2Translation=2.8370070, -0.8340830, 1.9837300Rotation=-42.76984786, 99.10128044, 0new camera definition then modified with values you created.InitialXyz=2.837, -0.834, 1.983InitialPbh=-42.769, 99.101, 0After you go through the procedure a couple of times, it shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes from beginning to end and you can set additional parameters while you are at it: make the camera movable or not, pannable or not, zoomable or not etcDo read the SDK though, it is one of the simpler ones and you also learn how to make fixed location cameras...Loyd

Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

There is DB Walk And Follow.I think you get yourelf in the camera view you want, then it saves it to the aircraft.cfg for your a/c.DB walk and follow basically also allows you to move around FSX world independent of your plane.

Yeah and its expensive and buggy as hell and has half a million keys defined which you have to manually unassign before you can use those keys for other useful things in FSX, don't waste your money.

Cheers, Andy.

I agree with Andy, it's a terrible waste of money. There is a great utility that's been developed by a guy who goes by the name of Marniftarr. The problem is he hasn't released it yet, he's trying to find a distributor for it I believe. Curt

I bought DB Walk And Follow as soon as it was released for FSX, thinking it would work the same as it did in FS9.. I was pretty wrong about that, half of the FS9 features aren't available. It was money well spend in FS9, but wasted in FSX. Quite a shame for such expensive tool.I too hope that Marniftarr will be able to release that awesome camera util soonest. It looks awesome on the vids he posted and I gladly put down money for such!
