November 27, 200916 yr Hi,After many many years fluing with real weather and GPWS equipped jets, I never heared the windshear alarm, only in a GPWS test.Whats the sim condition to ever hear one?
November 28, 200916 yr I don't think MSFS models it all that well,if at all.Maybe if using Active Sky it'll work to some degree.I've gotten it once or twice when descending into LOWIusing the Richard Probst 727 panel somewhere in ... 2005 I think, and that is the only time I can ever remember having it,using that panel and the Vistaliners 727,and it was in conditions I wouldn'tcall windshear ... granted, the airspeed varied wildly, but that was about it,no associated bumps orsudden loss of- or increase of airspeed,or altitude the way one would expect with windshear.Maybe the warning worked then :(In the DF 727 I've never had it,if that is because I've never encountered windshearor because it just doesn't exist,I don't know.Same goes for the other planes I've flown, which include a lot ofrather sophisticated addons, and I've flown some ah wild weather areas,Have yet to test the DA F100/70,though.JP.
November 28, 200916 yr I've also heard the warning when flying the Tinmouse 737-200, which is also derived from R. Probst's work. I wouldn't be surprised if it works in the Leonardo Maddog also, but I can't swear that I've ever hear it there except in preflight tests. I was in close proximity to FS9-generated t-storms when it went off. John G.
November 28, 200916 yr I got one last week landing my Maddog2008 at EGSS (winds 20029G41KT). This was achieved using ASA, which now produced great Gusting wind effects.Have a look at this moviehttp://www.flythemaddog.com/download/video/windshear.wmvNeil
November 28, 200916 yr Hi,After many many years fluing with real weather and GPWS equipped jets, I never heared the windshear alarm, only in a GPWS test.Whats the sim condition to ever hear one?Hello I have had it a number of times and it almost caused me a heart attack the wav file was so loud.Anyway if you have activesky there is an option for wake turbulence and i believe with this setting you may get your windshear warnings as turbulence from an aircraft landing ahead of you buffets you about.cheers Andy
November 28, 200916 yr I have it from time to time, definitely a few times with the DF 727 and just a few days ago with the PSS A320. Can't remember the other planes I got the windshear warning. BTW I had the alert with default weather and with AS6.5But actually I'm not sure if there really is a gauge which dedects windshear or if the gauge just produces a randomized alert for creating a cool effect.Wolfgang
November 28, 200916 yr Commercial Member Dont use it now that I fly PMDG but this served me well in the past and includes the real Boeing Windshear warning.Avsim library rcbgp-33.zipRob Rob Prest
November 29, 200916 yr Hi Johan,My freeware GPWS ( rcbgp-33.zip) contains a windsheer detection/warning.Based on instantanous, large changes in ambient windspeed/directions, like you would expect with microbursts. However, it's only as good as it's modelled in FS, of which I'm not sure.Rob
November 29, 200916 yr HelloIf you download the fine project fokker 100/70 package.(Which would be EVEN finer if the taxi light and radios which work even if switched of could be fixed :( :( :( )This comes with Rob's GPWS gauge installed.Andy
November 29, 200916 yr .....Which would be EVEN finer if the taxi light and radios which work even if switched of could be fixed ..... AndyIf you send me an Email (see my pf-30 addon for address), I'll explain why for both things ....As to not get off-topic here :( Rob
December 2, 200916 yr Author Is Robs version better then ? I mean, does it actually work ? or is it just more sensitive ?questions...Or.. any ideas on how to setup a demo to test this ? anyone can attach a weather/saved flight ?How bad the weather will be, I never heared this warning.. maybe the logic is right, but the weather doesnt give it, or at least I thinkwhen doing an approach in a storm, at least it could be heared? Why code it in a gauge to be never heared or triggered?Johan
