November 29, 200916 yr Same PC I used for FS9 with XP. Frame rates often exceeded 40FPS. all the way up past 60FPS. NOW, with Win 7, I can't get the frame rate above 30 in the same places I flew when using XP. I've got a 6800 Nvidia card, Athlon 64 3200+ CPU. FS9 worked great in XP. The video driver I'm using is the file named 191.07.... from the Nvidia site. I tried using Nhancer and Rivatuner (separately) to overclock the GPU, but they didn't help.

November 29, 200916 yr Author Roll back a version on the drivers - there have been issues with the latest.ok, I'll give that a try. I've been looking for a program compatible with 7 to completely remove the drivers before I do a video driver install. I've been googling and haven't found anything promising yet. I remember with XP, I used to have a utility for Nvidia drivers that cleaned the registry of any remnants of the video driver. any ideas on that?

November 29, 200916 yr Author Roll back a version on the drivers - there have been issues with the latest.I tried 190.62. same result. I went to Safe Mode, uninstalled the Nvida driver. Tried to install 190.62 and got a message there was no compatible hardware, so I figured I'd have to let windows install it's own driver so that the Nvidia install program would know I had an Nvidia card. That worked, but frame rates are still around 30 or less in places where they used to run about twice that rate. This all sucks because I had FS working great in XP. sigh. :) At least the rest of 7 is treating me well.Driver Cleaner which can be found at Guru3D.comUninstall Forecware Display driver, reboot into safe mode, run driver sweeper, reboot into windows and install new forceware...thanks. I'll give that a try later today.

I give up. Is it any wonder I quit using PC's for games? I'm much happier using my PS3 for games, rather than tweaking a PC to work properly with each new game. I don't have any fond memories of all the time I spent getting things working half way decently each time I brought home a new game. This FS issue with frame rates reinforces my negative feelings about PC based games.
December 7, 200916 yr I have the same problem with ATI Card. I can do what i will but i have only 22-28 frames... I played with processor priority set to 2 cpu and bammm 60 frames and more. I try it some more... Nothing... I cant reproduce this. I still have bad frames not this like xp. The must be a way to get more. Anything blockade this but what? December 8, 200916 yr Go back to 182.50. I did that and my FPS is back to what it used to be with Vista 64 Ultimate. Since I got my old drivers back, I've really liked W7. (minus the horrible menu/toolbar) Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try MSFS DarkStreets today!
December 8, 200916 yr OK, yesterday i sit in late night on my problem. I'll try next day old drivers, then we will see whats happend. The nice thing about, i can set AA and AF to maximum and the frames stay at there point. I've edit fsx.cfg Texture_Bandwith_Multi and set this to 100 and i get higher frames. But if i run PMDG 747 all frames are gone. With my XP system and same settings i get with 747 more than 25 and most over 30 frames... That was really nice to saw how smooth my pc works.I change the driver version and than we will look... December 8, 200916 yr Try the 195.62 vista/windows 7 drivers. I found them much better. - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
December 10, 200916 yr So, i can repeat i have an ATI card and both versions 9.10 and 9.11 wont work right. I have so bad frames. That's so frustrating... Any other ideas? Regards SwenWeb Developerhttp://www.dafsim.comhttp://www.lcbs.de
December 10, 200916 yr So i installed xp and now i have so nice framerate... I think, i fly with xp and work under 7... At this point theres no other way. Regards SwenWeb Developerhttp://www.dafsim.comhttp://www.lcbs.de
December 11, 200916 yr Can I add something? Before I went out and brought Windows 7, I did some research. I came across a group called the Rockers International Team (http://www.rtwincustomize.net/ click on Forums) They redesigned Windows 7 (took out all the unecessaries, add only NVidia drivers and software, and tweaked the system) and released it as Windows 7: NVidia Edition. The good thing is that they released it, the bad news is that those of you who get, it will have to purchase the activation key from Microsoft, which is the same as buying the actual version. So I went to Best Buy, brought Windows 7, downloaded the NVidia Edition and used the key (after calling Microsoft for thier blessing) to activate it.It was the best thing that ever happened to my NVidia-built computer; although I have a huge ammount of aircraft stored in FSX, the sim performed flawlessly. My programs spools up quickly and I like the new interface; especially when my background images runs as a screensaver.I read on thier website that they are near completion of a ATi version......Just something you guys should take a look into for improving your XP/Vista based computers. December 11, 200916 yr Hi Gundam, very nice hint. But i've installed windows7. At this point i wont reinstall win7. So, i check your weblink and than we will look what they do. What they do, we can do it manually after installation. But i dont have Nvidia, i use ATI. ATI wont work very well. If we find the bottleneck of this problem it will be a wonder, 'cause i think the driver itself are very bad.My discussion at this point are to use a double system and wait for the next driver generation. If this driver also bad, than i will buy Nvidia again.I read everytime to use nhancer with Nvidia Cards. I doesn't need it with fsx. That would all be fine without it. You need it only if you run fs9. Regards SwenWeb Developerhttp://www.dafsim.comhttp://www.lcbs.de
December 14, 200916 yr OK, problem is not gone... I've installed Win7 and FSX new. Graphicsdriver and sound only installed. Frames are bad... Friday Harbor and only 50 Frames. I can turn all sliders to the left and this frames stay!CCC i've tried all. Frames stay... And now? Anyone have a solution?Today i have an idea that anything wouldn't be right in bios... OK when, but what? Regards SwenWeb Developerhttp://www.dafsim.comhttp://www.lcbs.de
