December 5, 200916 yr Ok, I have tried to keep from posting this question but cannot seem to find anything. I know I won't find anything of a PMDG standard, but maybe a PMDG user who is as picky as I am might know a well modeled small plane. I am looking for a well modeled C-172, or similar even like a piper cub or cherokee. I want to show my daughter the ropes and she's eager, then work her way into bigger planes like the PMDG's. The best I've been able to find (or only), is Flight1's 172, but since this is made for FS9 and FSX and seems to emphasize the Virtual cockpit aspects, and seems it is really more targeted for FS9 users. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
December 5, 200916 yr Not sure if I can do this since this is the PMDG forum, but A2A Simulations has done a really nice Piper Cub, you can get it here:http://www.a2asimulations.com/store/index....;products_id=36 | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

December 5, 200916 yr As much as it pains me to say, the default 172 is actually pretty good. Jordan Forrest

December 5, 200916 yr Hi Dan,Just to say I bought the PA32R 301 Saratoga SP FSX from carenado 2 days ago and it seems pretty decent.Looks great, has auto pilot, sounds ok, good fun to fly into those small fields with.Once done, hope you're gonna get the JS4100, good step up into the world of turbo props!Dan.

December 6, 200916 yr Didnt flight 1 make a 172. I cant speak to how good it is but I remember some positive reviews when it came out. I bought the Carenado C182RG and I really liked it. Andrew
December 6, 200916 yr I really like Flight1's 172, graphics and flight model wise she's a joy to fly. I use FS9 so I can't comment on the FSX version. Dan Schultz REX Latitude BETA Team Member https://rexlatitude.com
December 6, 200916 yr Are these addon aircraft really that much better than the default? Jordan Forrest
December 6, 200916 yr Author Are these addon aircraft really that much better than the default?I mostly do the heavies, but want to teach my eager daughter in a realistic model that better simulates the flight dynamics like thrust, lift, skidding, turbulence, etc... I agree with your above post, in that the default is good, but there are definitely better. Looks aren't important either. I think I'm going with a couple from the recommendations from here, still deciding though. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
December 7, 200916 yr I think Flightsim is better suited to heavy flying, mostly because flying heavies is... well less about the actual flying!I've got some experience flying a real 172 and I think flightsim does a reasonable job of simulating flight in smooth air - terrible at simulating flight in turbulence. Which is why I'm not sure how an addon aircraft will be any better. Jordan Forrest
December 7, 200916 yr The flight1 172 is excellent and has a more-than-adequate VC in FSX. I'd recommend it without hesitation.-stefan
