PMDG 737 NGX: The View Forward

Featured Replies

:( :( the mid of this year is coming, continue waiting for NGX.......NGX will be coming in June?
To be fair, "mid year" can probably be realistically interpretated as teh middle six months of the year. So anywhere between say March and September. I hope for june, but expect a late August or early September release.Eric Szczesniak

Nice shots as always but I got one little remark/complaint.On several panels I have the idea that the rotary switches are glued to the panel and it doesn't seams like the're a part of the panel itself. It's hard to put my finger on however for me it's just not perfect....Sorry for my complaint and keep up the good work, looking forward to buying the NGX
Not a problem. Sometimes a picture gives an illusion of something that isn't quite the way it actually is. Here is a shot to clarify...

I think most people who bought the PMDG FS9 737 when it first came out will recall that it was notable for being a bit hard on frame rates at that time, hence its options for what items it loads, such as VC etc. The old FS9 747-400 was somewhat tough on frame rates too for the then-current hardware when it came out. In actual fact, far from giving them a bad reputation, the need to back off settings to run the PMDG FS9 737NG was probably what cemented their good reputation, as it made it more than apparent at the time that we were looking at a serious attempt at simulation, and one of the first of its kind.
We've learned a heck of a lot about the sim and optimization since the original NG, so I'm not sure that's fair to bring that product up... we're not going to release a plane that intentionally "kills frames", but at the same time, if your system can't even run FSX well on its own or with the MD-11 or J41, then don't expect some kind of miracle here. That's the point.

how about the 747? runs fine for me, currently my only PMDG aircraft. im assuming it can only get better performance wise.

@plodgeface [nice name btw ;) ]the 747 is the worse of the pmdg FSX aircraft in terms of frames hit, there is a significant improvement for the md11! and a little for the jetstream.I would guess the 737 will be somewhere between 747 and md11 in terms of performace GUESSING

cheers, wouldn't call it 'the worst of PMDG', absolutely love flying her. why would you guess that the MD11 has better performance? MD11 is bigger model, one more engine, more automated systems (afaik).

If you look at the other part of my post you took the quote from, you'll see that was actually the point I was making.Al

I was referring to the framerate performance, not the aircraft flight performance. The MD-11 definitely gets better FPS than the 400X because it's newer and uses modeling techniques that are more advanced than what was used in the older 400X product.

im not saying the 747 is the worse, its my 2nd favouirte aircraft of all time in rela life [777 being first]..md11 is just programmed more effieciently, the 747 was one of the first addons for FSX when pmdg were learning fsx basicsAlex

Gents-Pricing will be well below $100... It is FAR too early to be setting pricing but I wouldn't expect it to be higher than $80 at the top-most...The initial release will not include a BBJ, but it will include the -600/700/800/900 and most of their sub-variants.The NGX will release before the Dash8...The Dash8 and 777 are both likely to be 2011 releases, but the NGX will not be TOO much longer....I think that covers the questions I saw above. :-D
Robert and PMDG Staff,This 737 is truly going to be an amazing release for FSX, and i know I've been looking forward to its release since before the project was started :). I've been absolutely floored by the screenshots above, and I know that the flight characteristics and coding of the systems of the aircraft will match the quality of the visuals. Just two quick questions regarding the quote above. Though the BBJ will not be included in the initial release, are you planning to release the BBJ as an add-on with a separate price point soon after the initial release? Furthermore, what BBJ variants will be included? Thanks.Regards,Elliot Farney

Stunning work Vin & PMDG....now for a quickie question: are you including 3D passengers like the JS4100 (hopefully not) since it may hinder frame-rates in these new high-res sceneries (checkout NL2000 v4), airports and of course the aircraft.Darryl

over 100 virtual passengers :( I think my average framerate would be somewhere at 0,5.

When? When? When?Been waiting since october 2009 - had a better time waiting for christmas as a kid - this is painful :)

Not to take away your pain, but a lot of us here have been waiting far longer than that. I don't recall exactly when PMDG said they'd make a 2nd version of the 737NG. I believe FSX wasn't even out at that time, but if it was, it was early in the game when FS9 was still clearly king. Hence the reason it initially started life as "NG2.0" instead of "NGX". Of course times have changed and I am glad to see that it has progressed to a point where there is quite a bit to show. My understanding is that there has been quite a lot of coding work already done for all the systems.
