Eric Marciano's Airbus Volume 2 upgrade

Featured Replies

I have some time ago got hold of Wilco's Airbus Volume 2. Since, I didn't really look at it anymore, because there are other planes I'm trying to master first. Another reason was that eric Marciano's module for Volum 2 was not finished yet. It is supposed to fix some remaining stuff in the MCDU and FMGC. Now, it has been finished and it is released. However, it's also pretty expensive, and I would like to know from people that purchased it, if it's worth the money. One note though: do not post just to tell me this aircraft package is crap, or say that I should use the PSS or CLS offerings. I do not want to use them! All other posts pertaining to my question are more than welcome :-)

I bought the Airbus Volume 1 upgrade, so you can take what you want from that experience...First of all, the software upgrade only (without the hardware functionality) was something like 30 Euros, not 95. Now, I had all sorts of problems with it, but then again I had problems with the original software from day one. I'm still trying to find out how to repair my original installation, and once I figure out what the heck is wrong with that, I think it might work. (This is the problem with buggy software that requires many updates - your installation get immeasurably altered. Simply uninstalling and reinstalling does not work - you must manually find and delete all related files!)Those who have got it to work have (apparently) found it to be a little improved, but no groundbreaker. It really should be a patch, rather than an upgrade, but (should I ever get it to work) it won't be the worst I've ever been ripped off in the FS payware community. It's up to you, really, and what value you expect on your dollar (or euro, or whatever).Again, this is my experience from the Airbus Volume 1 upgrade.- daniel

Yeah, that's what I thought. 30 euros for what seems like a rather minor upgrade (patch?), is a bit too much. I'll have to rethink it...

30 euros
It's 20 euro for vol.1 and the same 20 for vol.2.

That's not what he told me... When he replied to my email, he said it was 30 euros (Eric Marciano, I mean). I think that's a lot. The upgrade doesn't seem to do *that* much, yet it's more than half the price of the actual plane.

Sorry to bring this topic upfront again, but I wondered if anybody could offer a bit more advice? How did it help to make the Airbus better (if it made it better at all), and do you think that made it worth the money?Looking at the list of fixes and such, it does seem it fixes quite a bit of the issues that were raised by customers concerning the navdata and sid/star handling. Since I may purchase Wilco Airbus Volume 1 (I asked advcie about it in another thread), I heard about several bad issues and saw screenshots hat detailed these issues. Eric Marciano's module seems to fix them. Is this correct? if so, it might be well worth it. Your opinion?

You can't really "fix" the Wilco/FT Airbus. It's fundamentally broken. Eric's fixes are mostly cosmetic. Having purchased the vol. 1 upgrade, I'm not all that impressed, not for the asking price anyway. Sure the SID/STAR handling might be a bit better, but that's pretty much all there is to it.

Cheers,

Mack

Just to impart my experiences on any others who are interested in this upgrade...I just can't get the thing to work properly. It does absolutely crazy things - surging throttles and flight control problems... I'd have to advise against buying it. After many uninstalls and reinstalls from scratch, no matter what I do, it won't behave properly. The worst part of it is I have no recourse left to me beyond sucking it up and considering the money lost (or donated to Eric Marciano - who at least has done some freeware for the community). While Eric was interested in helping me out for a while, he lost interest in me after a few emails. It's not supported by either Wilco or Feelthere, so I don't even have their support forum to go to, so that I may have my posts locked (in fairness, this does not always happen over there).I hope that this helps someone out... but please, if anyone has any better experiences with the upgrade, please share. I'd hate to be the one that trashes a product alone...- daniel

Ok I bought Airbus 2 when it came out. I found it to be sub par. Is this an upgrade to the original that you must buy? Or is it just a more polished original Airbus Vol 2.

Okay, so is there anybody here who has something good to say about it? Until now, to me it seems like it's a waste of money. There must be somebody here that had good experience with it?

I think the message is pretty clear here. Do not waste your money.....

I bought the upgrade bout one week ago coz i was interested by the best legs handling especially for stars.Until now the legs handling is the same than before . No nice legs handling as on Eric marciano s website. Also the descent handling is now completly crazy, was much better before.I emailed eric but no answer yet, (only 24 h ago).By the way by reading this post i am not very optimistic that he could find a solution....Never mind i made a donation to a guy who gave many free stuff to the community in the past.... :(
