January 26, 201016 yr I have recently installed Radar Contact V4.3 (download version, not a CD).I currently have the most up to date version of FSUIPC. I start FSX, build a flight plan in the default flight planner, save the plan, open RC4, load the flight plan into RC, click on the "Start RC" button, and then begin the flight in FSX. Once in the game, the RC menu window is visible with 2 options. The first option is to begin communication with the controller, and the second option is weather. I tune my radio manually to the appropriate frequency listed in option one. This is where I get stuck... I cannot select option one. When I press "1" on the keyboard, nothing happens. I have tried to press "1" on the numeric key pad on the right side of the keyboard, and tried to press "1" above the letters. Neither will select the first option. The font in the RC menu window is red. In the manual, the text shows as green. I don't know if this matters, but I wanted to give as much detail as possible. I have already unistalled, and reinstalled the program to see if that would help, and it did not. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!MarkFSX AccelerationWinXP 32bit _____________________________________________ Mark Bott

January 26, 201016 yr Author Thank you for the help. I notice right away that you asked me if I was actually in the aircraft before starting RC. And the answer is no. I started RC when I was completed planning the flight, but before I actually was sitting in the cockpit. I will attempt to start RC like you have suggested, and give that a try. Also, yes my radio was tuned correctly, and I will check the FSUIPC settings to make sure they are correct. Thank you again for the help. _____________________________________________ Mark Bott
January 26, 201016 yr Moderator This is the recommended loading order:- FS with aircraft positioned at the gate. Load weather and ensure Ai is refreshed. Load flight plan into weather program. Load flight plan in FS. Launch RC with above plan. Any other required software. Ray (Cheshire, England). Where do they fit in the sequence - as other software. Then if I use their startup option to start FSX, RC, then IYP will that cause issues with RC4?
January 26, 201016 yr Moderator If you use other software to start FS then that should come first. But it's important RC loads after any wx programs have set the weather and have refreshed the Ai otherwise you'll have runway conflicts. And once RC loads you should be ready with plans loaded and ready to hear ATIS followed by your Clearance.Pete Dowson uses IYP (I think) so he may be able to advise. Ray (Cheshire, England). January 26, 201016 yr I do things just a bit differently from Ray but very close. I modified the quote in italics: This is the recommended loading order:-FS with aircraft positioned at the gate. Load weather. Load flight plan into weather program and process. Refresh FS weather from within weather program. When FS weather updates are completed wait one minute and then refresh AI. Load flight plan in FS and aircraft/instruments. Launch RC with above plan. Any other required software.
January 27, 201016 yr Commercial Member I also use It's Your Plane, IYP. Where do they fit in the sequence - as other software.I also use It's Your Plane. That can be started anytime. If FS isn't ready for it, it will sit and wait till it is. I run it on a WideFS client PC and it is actually started by Windows when that PC boots up, in the "startup" folder, along with WideClient. You could do the same even if it runs on the FS PC. It is quite amenable that way.WideClient also loads many other ancillary programs, but mostly using "RunReady" which only starts them then FS is up and ready to fly. RC could be one of those, but I use RC rather differently from most, having APL-style plans fed to it from my in-cockpit CDU, so it isn't started till much later, at the end of Pre-Flight preparations.RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. There are some interesting ideas here. Starting RC after weather programs (I use ASA) was something I hadn't thought about but I haven't use RC much due to not being able to fly much recently - a situation I'm trying to correct <G>. RunReady sounds nice but will it work on a non-networked FS setup?

RunReady sounds nice but will it work on a non-networked FS setup?Well, not by the name "RunReady" (which is a WideClient.INI parameter name), but as Ray says, the same can be done via FSUIPC in its INI file. Check the chapter called "Programs: facilities to load and run additional programs" in the FSUIPC for Advanced Users documentation (installed in your Modules folder).RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. January 27, 201016 yr Author Just an update on my original post, I waited until FSX was fully up and running and I was actually in the aircraft before launching RC4. And it worked!!Thank you to all for your help! _____________________________________________ Mark Bott

February 25, 201016 yr Hi im new to this, but i got the same problem i bought Rarar Contact 4.3 today and nothing happen when a press 1 or 2 or 0 to select the options. im running FSX SP1+ Acceleration Windows 7 64bits.thanksJohn John Lanouette
February 25, 201016 yr What other programs are running besides RC asnd your aircraft, and which aircraft. Are you having a problem with default aircraft?Firstly for Win7 it is best to start RC with a shortcut and the shortcut properties set to run RC as an administrator. Is RC on the FS machine? Tune on contact set to tune your comms? You have the comms initially? If you are running other add-ons that have a menu showing they could be stealing keystrokes. If you are using an aircraft with the ability for your keyboard to input to the FMC be sure that feature is turned off. Finally, RC only accepts keystrokes when the FS window is active, not minimized or not selected. Clicking on the RC window in the aircraft will keep RC from getting keystrokes.Check these out and then post a reply.
