  1. I'd like to add the Redwing L1049G for MSFS to the list of requests.
  2. That is great news about X-Plane compatibility!!! Did the feature list and details for XPlane 10, etc get posted yet?
  3. That is one impressive shot - all of these are.
  4. That is an awesome sky. Here's one I took on my first flight with AS 2012. Can't wait to take more flight!
  5. I will agree whole heartedly. I used AS, then ASX and ASE and now AS 2012 and the clouds (as well as the rest!) are great. I used AS 2012 for the first time yesterday and am very impressed. The shapes are very good and they even have the wisps of cloud as you enter one.
  6. I agree - Some of the best money I ever spent! Welcome to the world of Radar Contact which gives FS a whole new dimension and life.
  7. Is FS set up with the plane and a gate, runway, or somewhere and the simulator not paused?
  8. Well, 5-10 seconds is a little short. I've flown Atlanta, Dallas, New York, Chicago and some others and was given a little more time than that. I do use Otto to do comms. However, this is a simulator so it doesn't always respond like the real thing and it would be nice to have the ability to get more time if we don't want to get that real <G>. It would be like the altitude deviation that we can adjust. Prerecorded is off and I fly at 1X also.
  9. Well, I haven't found it yet <G>. While flying enroute I tried the other menus and never found it.
  10. 1. Would it be possible to add the ability to ask the controller for the altimeter. I know we can go off-channel for weather but A) that isn't always the same as the controller uses and :( it's a lot to listen to when all I want is the altimeter. I've had several cases where the altimter changes drastically and I show I'm OK on altitude but he's screaming I'm not. When he finally gives me the altimeter it's a change of 500 feet or more. This also happens when resuming a flight. For some reason the altimiter doesn't match his and he's upset. This function should be accessible from about any phase - departure, enroute, approach.2. Is there a way to change how long the controller waits until he comes back again telling me to change frequency. It seems like less than 10 seconds delay and he's complaining I haven't changed yet. Well, no - in some cases Michelle of IYP didn't do what I told her, in others I'm working on it <G>!Maybe we need the ability to tell the controller - I'm busy flying and will get to it and he backs off for a while <G>.Thanks.

Thanks. I'm letting the copilot handle the radios but this is good to know.

Probably a silly question but how do you know you have outstanding ACKs to ATC? Is it on the display?
  13. ASE works fine here. I can't remember what option it is - maybe DWC - but I think I have that on and it's working so far.
  14. Strange! FF (latest version de jour since it says no updates) still won't show a cursor in the reply box so I'm using IE8. Oh, well. Maybe it will work on the next update.
  15. No, that is available only at certain phases of the flight but not enroute. From my readings of the manual I thought so to but closer reading showed it wasn't and when I went throught the menus while actually in flight during cruise phase with center it's not there. I don't like the B key either as it's specific to the US. I've been setting it manually or having Michelle in IYP do it now. My concern is that when I get a new controller I'm used to being given the altimeter and I can't ask for it. I've had some instances as I explained that it would have been nice to be able to check it.Someone suggested the Weather check option but what weather is used for that - a station close to my location or actual weather at my altitude and postiton? Would the altimeter be the same as the controller sees?A request for the next version - add the option to ask the controller for the altimeter at any time. Thanks - Love RC4!
  16. Is there a way to ask RC4.3 for the altimeter setting? I've noticed that many times when I get handed off the new controller does not give me the altimeter check until some time later. I'm assuming RC4 figures that if the new controller's altimeter is the same as the old why give it. However, there are situations where I need to ask for the altimeter to verify my setting. Last night I loaded a saved rcd flight (I'm on a 8-9 hour flight with a DC-4). Unfortunately, when I loaded the flight the altimeter the controller was using was much different than what the flight had saved. I didn't know that so I adjusted the altitude to get to my assigned and got yelled at. Eventually the controller gave me the altimeter setting and I realized I was 400 feet too high.Or can I assume that if I set the altimeter with the B key that it will be the same value the controller has? Thanks. I'm using RC4 with IYP and loving it! ATC like it was in real life!
  17. Are you using FireFox? I've found that with FF 3.6.3 I have NO cursor in the box where you type a reply. I end up using IE to answer posts (like this <G>).
  18. The only add-ons I have (other than scenery and a/c) are IYP and RC and both work well together. For IYP it has to be setup to handle an aircraft if it's not stock or one of the 70 or so the author makes the changes. However, he is very responsive and usually adds new a/c quickly if you post in the IYP forum and ask for it. I really can't think of any changes needed to make IYP work better with RC4. The times I've used it things just worked.
  19. Same here. I've flown FS since 5.1 and used to fly in real life. I finally got RC4 about a month ago and love it! No more zig-zags to final, no more being forgotten several miles out. It is very real.Another add-on you might look at is It's Your Plane. It allows voice commands for almost everything and interfaces to RC very nicely.
  20. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />/quote]You're very welcome.I run Win7 and if I bring up the mixer panel from the system tray (right click, open volume mixer) it has a volume control for each app. I notice it may not appear immediately until RC starts using the sound. On Vista, XP, you may just have to use the master volume control.<br />
  21. At this point RC uses the default sound device so it's the speakers in your case (and mine). What I do to get RC4 to the headset is to select the speaker device in FSX. Note this is NOT the default device. In the dropdown list there will be another entry for the speakers. Select that as it tells FSX to use the speakers no matter what the default device is.Then using your control panel change the default device to Headset. Go fly - RC4 will now be on the headset and FSX on the speakers. In Windows 7 you'll have a volume control in the mixer for RC4 one it starts running so you can control the volume to it.Change back to speakers when you are done flying. Hopefully one of the future RC versions will let us select the output device.
  22. That's what you have to do. You can leave FSX sounds on speakers - choose speakers, not the default audio device or the sound will go to the headset. Then from the audio control panel set the headset to be the default device. FSX will put it's sounds to the speakers and RC will show up on the headset. My headset is non-usb and works like a charm.
  23. You're welcome. There is also the Refresh button on ASA. I used it tonight but I was flying with weather from earlier this month.
  24. I run ASA, FSX, and RC4.3 and it works. ASA feeds FS and RC talks to FS. I start FSX, then ASA, then It's your plane, then RC4. As is mentioned here make sure you give ASA time to start, then let it feed the weather to FS and finally give FS time to figure things out. One thing to check on is that ASA is using the sim time. Also, uncheck the VATSIM online weather checkbox. I also set automatic downloads to 5 minutes. For testing start ASA First, let it get setup and set it to track sim time. Then start FSX and not RC4. In ASA load the flight plan. Go to the map page and set the track FS checkbox. In FSX (make it the active window by clicking on it) you should see a green text line that says ASA has initialized the weather. Somebody posted a tip on the forum that you can advance the FS time by a minute and it will refresh - that does work.
  25. Thanks. I'll dig out the manuals.
