January 27, 201016 yr As a user of FS products for several years now, Im one of those few who are still unable to run FSX at an acceptable level of FPS- and my machine is very high-end with more than enough RAM, video, hard drive space and speed. (Intel Core i7 920, nVidia 8800GT @ 1680x1050x32, Vista 32 with installed 6 GB physical memory). So my main Sim is FS9 for obvious reasons, and I have dropped a significant amount of money on spicing up my FS9 world to be as realistic as possible. One of the areas Im confused in is the scenery and mesh replacements. Im not entirely sure if I am getting the most from my packages purchased, or if one or more of the mesh/scenery packages are canceling a previous installation out.1.Victoria + 2. Victoria 2010 (Jon Patch scenery), 3. Vancouver+, 4. MegaScenery PNW (including Victoria),5. FSGenesis Complete World Mesh Package and 6. FS Global 2008. Ground Environment Pro (Flight1) Then of course the normal scenery install files from FS9 itself. (default).I know mesh is not the same or scenery, but the mesh r4eplacements from FSGenesis also replace some ground textures with the mesh. Where should Victoria+ and Victoria 2010 and Vancouver+ be in priority on the Scenery Library to reflect the scenery in the package, but also reflect the mesh updates from FSGensis?Secondly, does the FSGenesis Mesh installation supersede the FSGlobal 2008 installation? I cant tell myself, and can not differentiate the files in the directory to tell if they are FSGensis or FSGlobal. Third, I fly mainly in the Victoria, BC area, with some flights through Pacific Northwest of Washington State and Alberta and the Rockies. The Rockies mesh and texture look great from all altitudes, but the coastlines near Victoria, Vancouver and the entire Pacific Northwest look very blocky and jagged- not at all pleasing to the eye. Its like a very, very bad anti-aliasing issue that affects ONLY this geographical region in FS9. Any ideas on that one?I know some of my questions here are addressed elsewhere, and have used some of that information. Any further thoughts, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!Finally- the Holy Grail of Questions to FS9 & Vista. To "Run as Administrator..." or not? Furthermore, run in "Compatibility Mode for XP", or no? Thanks for all the anticipated help!
January 27, 201016 yr Sorry I cann't answer your questions as they are way to technical for me, but that brought up another question for me. Whats the differance between FSGenesis Complete World Mesh Package and FS Global 2008. Are they not both MESH? Why would you need or have both installed at the same time? Thanks jerrycwo4
January 27, 201016 yr FSGlobal I think also provides landclass data, while I'm not sure if FSGenesis gives that too. They both do, indeed, provide mesh. So, for mesh you certainly don't need to install both. January 27, 201016 yr I too question why you have both FSGenesis and FSGlobal installed. They are both mesh addons and only one is needed. I use FSGenesis myself, but was thinking of going to the FSGlobal 2010. But first, I would remove FSGenesis before installing FSGlobal. No need to have two global meshes installed.
January 27, 201016 yr There's no need to have both, but there shouldn't be any problems with the two interacting. FS will always use the highest resolution mesh available up to its max resolution limit, ignoring everything else. January 27, 201016 yr Why don't you have a read at the Vancouver+ forum? If you cannot find an answer Jon will help you. http://forums.fsaddon.eu/viewforum.php?f=1...7e2ee6ca9ab40a1 \Robert Hamlich/

January 28, 201016 yr I like to use LWMViewer ver 2.0 be Jim Keirhttp://www.jimkeir.co.uk/FlightSim/LWMViewer2.htmlI will find FS9 terrain files and scenery objects that are active in the area you select (you can select by airport ICAO). What it won't do is show you objects including ground polys using older bglc/scasm methods, so that can be a shortcoming.Using LWMV2 it creates a tree of all the active files by type, and also draws the terrain. It sorts the files into priority. You can selectively turn each file on/off to see what if any difference it makes. I don't have all the addons you do, but here is an idea of how it looks in that area:scott s..
