When I go to enter the first Lat Long waypoint in the FMS it says not in database (N19W170). This is the way I format it in the 747 and have no problem. Can anyone help why this is happening. I have flown the MD11 all around the world and havent had this problem before.Andrew DeLaney Andrew
January 28, 201016 yr Author Update I enter the FP in the 747 save it and then load in the MD11. Wonder what I am doing wrong Andrew

January 28, 201016 yr Paul,With the information in the link provided by Dan, you might want to correct this statement.Regards,HarryVery good! Explains some screwy stuff I have had in the past. In this case you would use 19N70. From the Wiki: N latitude/W longitude N52 00/W075 00 = 5275N N07 00/W120 00 = 07N20N latitude/E longitude N50 00/E020 00 = 5020E N06 00/E110 00 = 06E10S latitude/W longitude S52 00/W075 00 = 5275W S07 00/W120 00 = 07W20S latitude/E longitude S50 00/E020 00 = 5020S S06 00/E110 00 = 06S10Now that is sorted, anybody care to comment on the discrepancy between the wiki and the MD11 manual FMS.100.4 where given a position of N 47'44.9" E11'15" the Wiki says the long form would be: 747/MD11: NDDMM.M/WDDDMM.M enter on LEGS page as NDDMM.MMWDDDMM.MM (with decimal point)would be entered as N4744.9E01115.0 but the example given in the manual is N4744.9/E01115.0. Is the '/' optional? Paul Smith.
January 28, 201016 yr I think I tried using the '/' when updating the wiki and found that it does not work. Maybe my memory is wrong, it is an easy test to perform. Dan Downs KCRP
January 28, 201016 yr I think I tried using the '/' when updating the wiki and found that it does not work. Maybe my memory is wrong, it is an easy test to perform. Now that is sorted, anybody care to comment on the discrepancy between the wiki and the MD11 manual FMS.100.4 where given a position of N 47'44.9" E11'15" the Wiki says the long form would be: QUOTE 747/MD11:NDDMM.M/WDDDMM.M enter on LEGS page as NDDMM.MMWDDDMM.MM (with decimal point)would be entered as N4744.9E01115.0 but the example given in the manual is N4744.9/E01115.0. Is the '/' optional?MD11:The '/' is mandatory. Also only one character should be entered after the decimal point. On the Actual Flightplan pages the entered coordinates are abbreviated. If you want to check the coordinates again, this can be done by selecting a Lateral revision page from that point, or more convenient, on MCDU3 by selecting Standby Flightplan.Regards,Harry
March 24, 201016 yr Coming back on this old subject :on the way from FNLU to FHAW I would like to go along the S08How to enter 08S and 010E, further 005E, 000E, 005W, 010W and 013WThe formats described will not go into 737 FMCThanksEdit: since this is an old subject it ended up in the MD11 forum . . . but I need it for the 737!! March 24, 201016 yr PMDG KB: http://support.precisionmanuals.com/KB/a59...ntry-notes.aspx08S 10E = 0810S Dan Downs KCRP
March 24, 201016 yr Thanks Dan,I am really a bit irritated :What about 08S10WEST as 0810S should be 08S010EAST ... ???0810S will not be accepted . . . NOT IN DATABASE Karl-Heinz Wichmann - EDDI/THF "Tempelhof" "The mother of all airports" - Sir Norman Foster Now CLOSED - its a shame !
March 24, 201016 yr I don't know why 0810S doesn't work. Are you entering it on the LEGs page?Fix 0810S is in the navdata wpNavFIX.txt file, which is how all these shortcuts work. You can open that file and see for your self. The difference between 08S 10W = 0810W; and 08S 10E = 0810S. Dan Downs KCRP
March 24, 201016 yr In navigation charts usually coordinates look as for example N361935 E0105502 where 35 is 35 of 60In FSX in this case ccoordinates must be N361958 (58 = 100*35/60)In PMDG MCDU (MD-11) this coordinates must be entered in this format : N3619.5/E01055.0 It will be point dynamically created :) Jan Sheva
March 25, 201016 yr Hmm, strange.I just tried plotting N5300.0/W4000.0 and N5300/W4000 in the MD11 MCDU without luck. It will only accept 5340N.What am I doing wrong ?I am running FS9 and got the latest AIRAC.Best regardsPeter Lund
March 25, 201016 yr The longitude degress is three digits and I think you need the decimal (N5300.0/W0400.0). Refer to the manual FMS100.4 Dan Downs KCRP
