February 4, 201016 yr Still OT, good point though. Some Americans (like my father) spend years traveling around the world and realize late in life that they never really saw much of the US or even their home state. You could spend 10 days in many European countries and cover the basics but 10 days in the US wouldn't even scratch the surface.I have only been to 18 of 50 states and many of my trips outside of Michigan were very short trips. I have been to Mexico 10 times, Israel 3 times and Jamaica once. It looks like I should be spending more time traveling around the US.As soon as they come up with all inclusive resorts with swim-up bars in Florida, I'll be there. In my case-I just chalked up the last Continental US state landing in my logbook last year-it only took me 20 years to log a landing in all of them.To really see the US can take that long-I'll get to the rest of the world at some point, but first I prefer to refly flights I have done and see how well the sim does them. Part of the joy for me is looking at the sim and saying-yes that is very good, or very close to what it was like! I can even get a historical weather download from Active sky and really recreate the flights...and I also have all the charts/plates I need sitting on my desk which makes it easy to stay in this area.I'll get to the rest of the world at some point-but to do it right will take the rest of my lifetime. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
February 6, 201016 yr Commercial Member I guess I am more of a 'world citizen' having been born in Holland, grew up in Australia and have travelled to and worked in 37 countries around the world. I've visited nearly all the US states including some of its territories like Guam and Saipan, and I've worked for up to three months at a time Korea and Thailand. Favourite places on earth? NYC, Paris, Hong Kong, Seattle/Vancouver and the UK.Favourite place on earth I fly in? PNW! Whilst we began our FTX journey in Australia, it's PNW that offers simply amazing vistas like nothing else. However, because I live in Australia, I get a kick out of flying over places I know and love. Cheers, John Venema
