January 31, 201016 yr ... No desire to fly in Australia much as I don't know the land very well. I wish they did FTX for AmericaI used to fly almost exclusively in Alaska and British Columbia. Never even thought of checking out Australia. After I have seen Orbx work, now I rarely fly outside Australia :( I have come to learn Australian towns and cities: Aeropelican, Cessnock, Caloundra, Tamworth because right now such names are at the centre of the very best FSX scenery design. Take a flight around Tamworth airfield and admire the 7-cm details in the textures. I never get tired of looking at them. So even though now you don't know the Oz land, do yourself a favor and start learning about it if you want to see FSX at its best.

January 31, 201016 yr Yes indeed. I wonder what tricks these guys will have come up with by the time they get to FTX Europe. I just hope it's in my lifetime ! :(

January 31, 201016 yr Jjaycee1-We don't air other peoples dirty laundry here. Your 2nd post is hence invisible. Are you a member of the orbx team?Thanks... Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
January 31, 201016 yr WOW those screen shots are crazy. I think I will support them by buying their full products. I think I only had the Blue package from a while ago. No desire to fly in Australia much as I don't know the land very well. I wish they did FTX for AmericaThat is sadly, my problem too. I have the blue package, and hardly use it because AUS is just not a place I know and so it loses some relavance for me personally. I am hoping the PNW product appears sometime soon. I will be first in line for that.NoelI used to fly almost exclusively in Alaska and British Columbia. Never even thought of checking out Australia. I have had the BLUE pack for a while, and find myself rarely using it, but that has nothing to do with how wonderful it looks. Performance is quite good too. I really want the PNW pack when it arrives.Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. January 31, 201016 yr ......Don't have FTX or not interested? That's your loss, big time.....Huh? Sounds like something a used car salesman would spew out. You sure you don't work for these guys?-John
January 31, 201016 yr Huh? Sounds like something a used car salesman would spew out. You sure you don't work for these guys?-JohnCertainly not, nor am I connected with ORBZ or OZ in any way whatsoever! Strange how you would assume something like that. My expression of certainty regarding FTX is educated enthusiasm based upon experience and knoweledge, whereas I think your negative comment about my motives is based on ignorance of both FTX and those like me who are grateful for it enough to say so.Stephen
January 31, 201016 yr Huh? Sounds like something a used car salesman would spew out. You sure you don't work for these guys? There is a handful of very good scenery for FSX, with FTX being among the very best. I'd strongly encourage anyone who has not had the pleasure yet to download the free AU Blue demo and see for themselves. It's available here: http://fullterrain.com/product_aublue.html. There is a number of freeware airstrips available from OZx that go well with demo (and with the full region packs, if you decide to get them), you can get them here: http://aussiex.org/forum/ (Make sure that you pick up Anthony Lynch's excellent freeware Tiger Moth while you are there).I'm a huge fan of the ORBX products. I live in Northern Europe, but I see no reason not to fly in Australia, Alaska, Papua New Guinea, or any other place on the globe that has scenery I like. I just wish that real-world travelling would be as simple. And just to make it perfectly clear, I do not work for ORBX or any other addon scenery developer. Really? Certainly phrasing something as "That's your loss, big time" comes across in a negative light. I don't think anyone can argue with my experience and knowledge--I wrote a scenery design aid that is still used by many designers today (Landclass Assistant). But I would not shove my opinion down someone's throat by suggesting they are losers for not installing my add-on or anyone else's. That's a user's choice. If anything (and I am familiar with FTX) I think it discourages some from using a product by making it sound hokey.... There are ways to be enthusiastic about something while respecting the interests and tastes of others.-John

February 1, 201016 yr Commercial Member Well I do work for the company :( Actually, I own most of it, hehe! And hey, I've been given a fresh new surname .. cool!Guys, this is nothing special really, we're just working with post-processing tools and 3D modeling tech to introduce efficiencies into FSX models which makes our stuff run like the ACES native stuff does. In fact, there's some original ACES stuff which could also do with this same tech. It all comes back down to how broken the FSK SDK was, and still is. You gotta remember we've been poking and prodding at FSX internals for some three years now and sooner or later we find out how stuff is held together, and then we make it better. One of the reasons FTX looks like it does is because we re-engineered lclookup.bgl and other core components. We also have a team of fifty people now, and that includes some modelers with decades of industry experience in optimisation. Think about it: having the FSX code locked in stasis for a while has been the best thing for our tiny little industry of FS developers. Gives us a chance to breathe, explore, poke around and "catch up to the metal".I am sure this will be common knowledge for other developers soon enough. But since I am the marketing guy, I've given it a cool name and we'll be applying to all our products at no cost to our customers. Mainly because we like customers to come back and buy more stuff :( I'll be putting up a public beta of this tech for YSTW Tamworth this week, so then we can see if the feverish hype being generated lives up to it. It probably won't, hehe! Cheers, John Venema
