January 30, 201016 yr Just been reading the new post by John Vienna at FTX forum(requires registration/login) about what they are calling "TextureFlow Technology.Worth a read. They really are an awesome outfit who are transforming flightsim. How about a little quote for those of us who are not FTX forum members, or is it confidential information? :(
January 30, 201016 yr Outstanding! Here's a quote:"TextureFlow is a design/build stage Orbx tech which is used during the airport build phase. That means it's not a simple addon which you apply to any airport or scenery, sorry. As for a % performance increase, it's too early to tell, but doubling of FPS seems to be the norm using medium slider settings."and:"So TextureFlow does two big things: 1. Gets rids of texture drawing lag completely 2. Improves FPS for complex airports with large model libraries."
January 30, 201016 yr Waaaow!John and his team really rock!2010 will be a fantastic year for FSX :--) - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
January 30, 201016 yr Great stuff - and sorely needed for YMML :( Tom Risager NGX tutorial: http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=ftp&DLID=162360 SIDs & STARs Worked Examples: LOWI-UUDD, KSEA-KLAX, EKCH-ENGM, YSCB-YPAD
January 30, 201016 yr Take a look as some of the new pics in their screen shots forum. Sick! That's a company that gets it. They fix problems fast and continue to improve their sceneries.I'm grateful for that. MSFS
January 30, 201016 yr Haha i tried registering and the password needs this and that and this and that. Ridiculous restrictions. Not like it's a bank site. Forget it!
January 30, 201016 yr FTX is not like FSX at all, but more like what FS13 or so might have been out the door. Texture flow will push it just that much farther beyond what anyone hoped was possible sometime in FS in the future. Don't have FTX or not interested? That's your loss, big time. This is a huge leap forward.Stephen
January 30, 201016 yr Haha i tried registering and the password needs this and that and this and that. Ridiculous restrictions. Not like it's a bank site. Forget it!Huh? :( That hard to come up with a password that has a capital letter and some numbers. Your loss...Anyway, read the whole story and it sounds revolutionary. In fact, the only thing I'm a little sorry about is that it was a payware developer who came up with it, instead of it being a technology free for all FSX developers to use :(
January 30, 201016 yr Maybe they should be involved with the next flight simulator title :( Right now I only have the demo installed but I am planning to get PNW when it comes out. Not that I wouldn't want scenery for Australia, I just know I wouldn't get my money out of it. I also understand that they are going to do KSEA and I would bet they do KPDX as well - two scenery products that are right up my alley. Vancouver would make it a very complete package MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition; Windows 11 Pro, I9-9900k; Asus Maximus XI Hero; Asus TUF RTX3080TI; 32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 3600; 2X Samsung 1TB 970EVO; NZXT Kraken X63; Seasonic Prime PX-1000, LG 48" C1 Series OLED, Honeycomb Yoke & TQ, CH Rudder Pedals, Logitech G13 Gamepad
January 30, 201016 yr Don't have FTX or not interested? That's your loss, big time.StephenI can't agree more. At every new addon, they push the FSX envelope further. Just go and have a look at their preview screenshots and videos forum to see what we are talking about, no password or account needed. January 30, 201016 yr WOW those screen shots are crazy. I think I will support them by buying their full products. I think I only had the Blue package from a while ago. No desire to fly in Australia much as I don't know the land very well. I wish they did FTX for America
January 31, 201016 yr I don't work for Orbx and I don't get a commission for saying this:You are at a loss if you're not using FTX. It's the best money you will spend on scenery. This is if you really appreciate beautiful VFR scenery and excellent airports. Shimmering texture is non-existent. What does that tell you? They know what they are doing. They are the real deal. MSFS
