If you would try the solutions I posted above, it would be a lot easier to fix because you just have to change one CFG line and it has worked for many people!! There is no need to downgrade, when you can probably fix the problem, by allocating 5 short minutes.

Have tried those various Bufferpools configurations with no long term effect on the matter. All I see in those post is that it "seems" to work, but then the conclusion is that it really doesnt, but thanks for the links and the effort.

Actually, I was able to solve the BSOD problem by removing the motherboard's audio drivers and going with the Windows drivers. The problem now is that the view from the outside is very jerky and has a lot of stutter. Also, the replay sound quality is very low. I'm contemplating whether to stay with this or go to XP64. The CFG edit wasn't applicable to my problem. I can't use any level of bufferpools with my videocard. It creates black spikes, etc, all over the place. I also have more than disappearing textures or the gray plane issue. There are times when my plane totally disappears from the outside views. Especially on replays, about a third of the replays go BSOD and on some others the plane disappears, although the shadow from the plane remains. XP mode in W7 is a possibility, but others have said FSX is not that great in XP mode.Kaydub

Hey Gman,Thanks for the push, I went back and did some testing and I came away with this so far:Texture_Multi=100[bUFFERPOOLS] Poolsize=400000000And with LOD_Radius=5.500000 At FSDreamteam KORD, Mytraffic 60% in and out of various CS727, LevelD and other AC, 2hrs of flying, normally I would get Black Screen with in the 2nd aircraft load but I was able to pop in and out of several aircraft for quite a long time before it Black Screened.VS. FSX in XP SP3 Compatibility mode, I have never gotton it to Black Screen, But >I havent done a thorough job of comparing performance AND the above test was done at Dawn trasitioning to Night where as The XP mode test were done at DaySTill it IS getting somewhere, Better. So thanks, I'll keep trying.

400 million is way too high for buffer poolsize, try lowering that to 40 mil if you have greater than a 512MB video card, or <10mil if less then 512MB.

Thanks

Thanks, but these are the latest results from dealing with the problem as described in this thread - when you begin to maximise the memory footprint of FSX with various add-ons used all at once, and if you read the results from my post it is working. The hardware in the system in my sig has 1Gig frame buffer and with plenty of VM.Other sources:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041"[bUFFERPOOLS]Poolsize=XXXXXXXX // 10000000 - 15000000 for 512MB cards, 35000000 for 640MB cards, 70000000 for 768MB cards and between 100000000 and 490000000 (100 to 490MB) for larger VM memory SINGLE CORE video cards."People, do not use these settings unless as a last resort to deal with the topic at hand, most of the time the buffer pools doesnt even need to be added to the cfg.

What you do is you take your new XP PRO 64 bit software CD and copy its contents to a folder of your choosing somewhere on C drive. You can name XP PRO 64 folder if you like. Then down load the SP 2 into this same folder. SP 2 is around 517 Mega bit's. Then install nlite on your computor, and follow the tutorial's from nlite on how to merge the two files together. You can even pre program your XP PRO 64 CD key into the install so that you don't have to enter each time you reinstall windows from your custom made CD. Best thing is do a little research on how to use nlite. This procedure is only if you bought a XP PRO 64 bit copy with out SP 1 or SP2. Nlite is a great software tool with a fairly easy to use GUI. I only suggested zapsoftware so you can save a little money, but if you would feel more comfortable buying the software from tigerdirect for more thats fine also. Either way you get the same result. Hope this helps. Bryan.

On my new board you can't install the XP64 SP1 from the CD...it requires SP2 on the CD to install Windows. I don't know whether I can install W7 64-bit and then slipstream XP64.Kdub

Sorry for not seeing your post early. I probably did'nt explain myself clearly. Go download Nlite on to your vista 32/64 bit or windows 7 32/64 bit and install it like any other application you would normally install. Then take your XP64 disk and while you are in windows stick it in the dvd drive and when the xp menu GUI window pops up just close it out. Now explore the disk by right clicking on the drive where the XP64 disk is and copy all the contents on the disk to a folder somewhere on your C drive. Name the folder somthing like XP64_pro. Now download the XP64 pro Service pack 2 for IT developer's which is not the same thing as the web update, but the actual sp2 in all its glory of 517 megs large to the same folder you made for XP64_pro. Now while still in windows open up your nlite, and follow the instructions to merge the XP64 pro contents with the SP2, and eventually as you go through the menu's of nlite your going to make a ISO. bootable XP64 Pro Service Pack 2 image that nlite will burn to a CD for you. When your done making the XP64 pro SP 2 cd just install XP like you would normally do using the CD you just made with nlite. If you want to duelboot your computor, just make sure to install XP first on a seperate partion or seperate drive, and vista or windows 7 on a different partion or seperate drive. The key here is if your duel booting you need to install XP first, then the other operating system. I hope this helps.Bryan

OK. Don't worry about it. Thank you very much for trying to save me some $. I decided that I don't need W7 at all. I gave it to a needy person at work, (security personnel), who bought some hardware and can't afford an OS. I'm now strictly XP64 on a dedicated FSX machine. It is working very well. XP64 is very stable.Kaydub

Bryan,Can you post the exact link of this file....."XP64 pro Service pack 2 for IT developer's" I cannot find any XP x64 SP2 file of 517 mb - the only one I could find was 350 mb.Pete

The link listed above is for the 32 bit version as it specifically does not mention the X64 version. Try this next link and its only 350 meg's large. I don't no where I got 517 meg's large from. Must be a senior moment.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=enBryan
HelloSorry about the 32bit link I must not have been paying attentionThe link that you posted that is 350mb will work fine, the main point is that you slipstream the service pack, the windows update version had problems updating the running system correctly.
