February 8, 201016 yr I know this has more than likely been discused multiple times. I know I probably answered this question many times back in my days of FS9.I know I dont have the greatest laptop in the world, but are there texture packs I can download to help increase my performance? I have perfomed tweaks all day, been playing with the sliders and just tooling with it in general. Im still in the mid teens. Does anyone know of any secrets they could let me in on other than upgrading my system or buying a new one? :)Thanks Chase Barnett

February 8, 201016 yr Awesome, thanks!I did extract it and opened up the .cab but I dont understand what they mean by searching the executable. Any help??The executable is your FSX.exe. Use the GUI to find it, put it in the GUI and push "create bat".After that you'll use the new FPS exe to star FSX.Make a shortcut to the desktop...

I click on the exe and nothing and the .cab just opens up to more files. Chase Barnett

February 8, 201016 yr Is it really necessary to buy a defrag program if my Windos OS does it automatically? Thanks
February 8, 201016 yr Defrag will not help a poor performing system.I can assure you that a clean drive with only the essentials could help. The lowest settings could help.If you really want better performance, get better hardware and use Nick's guide to tune it.I don't regret purchasing a new system. I'm a really happy FSX user. I had to spend a few thousand to get there. MSFS
February 8, 201016 yr Author Is it really necessary to buy a defrag program if my Windos OS does it automatically?ThanksNot really. O&O is faster and more efficient imho. The windows one will get it done, OO gets it done faster and better. Chase Barnett

February 9, 201016 yr Until this week, I've been a diehard FS9 user, mainly out of performance frustrations with FSX. THEN, I tried Nick's tweaks provided here:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041These tweaks have greatly increased my performance in FSX to the point where I can use it now. It made a HUGE difference. I am now buying FSX payware, which will probably empty my wallet all over again ;) Jim FSX w/Acceleration Windows 7 x64 RC Intel E8500 o/c to 4.275GHz/1800MHz FSB Zalman 9700LED CPU Cooler EVGA 790i Ultra Motherboard EVGA GTX260 o/c to 690/1500/1130 4 GB OCZ DDR3 1800MHz RAM WD Caviar Black 640GB Antec 650W PSU Samsung 22" LCD Widescreen Monitor Samsung DVD
