August 14, 201015 yr I don't buy into the whole tweaking thing... if you want good frame rates you're going to have to learn to cull the graphics yourself using the menu options. Those have a direct and always noticable effect for good reason. and I change mine for every flight. This is also the prefered method by every VG in the world. If it's running too slowly you have too much on the screen plain and simple :) And don't get this confused with the culling the game already uses during rendering.Just my .02
August 14, 201015 yr Nice benchmark but at the same time inconclusive, not many people who use FSX seriously bother with DX10 preview mode because it totally fubars too many things, where are the benches for DX9? Cheers, Andy.
August 15, 201015 yr My thoughts on the GTX 480 since I have one...Noise: I can't hear it over my case fans. As far as FSX running, the fans don't speed up high enough to even notice. In fact, you can't really hear the fans until you get over 70%, and even then it is barely audible to me.Heat: Mine gets in the mid 80's at full load...which FSX apparetly does not put on the card. The highest I have seen it get with FSX is 66-68. IMO, a lot of reviews stirred up what really isn't there in a lot of scenarios. The entire "OH NO.......THE HEAT....THE POWER!!!!!!!!1111111" ended up being a bunch of nonsense, at least in my experience. The only time I have seen the card break 80 degrees is while running Kombuster for a long period of time, and even then, I still couldn't hear the fans speed up, nor did my office heat up. lolPeople expecting a HUGE jump in FPS in this game are not going to get it. What they will be getting is the ability to run much higher levels of FSAA with little to no performance loss, and IMO, a much smoother flying experience. FS9 also got a nice jump in performance, not that it didn't perform extremely well before. I can now lock FS9 at 60 FPS and set 16xFSAA and 8xSS. .....Now, in other games, there is definitely a sizeable increase in FPS. :) Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
