Hi bojote,I'm a little confused about the Vsync settings. You don't have the default Vsync settings under Display at all and have added this:ForceFullScreenVSync=1ForceWindowedVSync=1I read the the thread about this vsync fix, but there was nothing about removing the default settings under Display.Btw, i understood that the AffinityMask setting works only with hyperthreading off. I'll turn it off, because as far as i understandvery few programs actually have any advantage about it.RegardsVille

yess, ALSO you get the massive benefit of using less heat [more overclock ;)]/.. hyperthreading does use more heat than having it off, so if i ever reset the bios, its the first thing i turn off.. best regardsAlex

I have to agree that the explanation given for vsync is quite confusing (to me anyway). The point is stressed that you need to disable vsync. However when you use Bojote's Tuning Tool it turns vsync full screen and vsync windowed screen ON by using the "1" which would indicate True ... I think. I tried to clarify this by going to Bojote's fsx.cfg file and he uses the expression "False"!! So which is it??? True ..False .... 1 ..... 0. ?????? The "Tuning Tool" inserts 2 new commands (ForceFullScreenVSync=1 and ForceWindowedVSync=1) which appear to be different than the one's Bojote uses which are ForceFullScreenVsync=False and ForceVSync=False. This is very confusing ....

The tool makes the adding of vSync completely optional, I did this based on feedback from users (Peter Hayes) back in December.

Go here:http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.htmlNo need to use my fsx.cfg the above tool will tweak YOURS.

Delete everything except the "Trusted" section and downwards. Then copy/paste above that...

thanks for the replyWhy is your cfg file posted on page 1 then?I recently upgraded my pc to i5 2500k @ 5ghz with gtx 580 and i would like to get the best i can out of fsx but being new to cfg tweaking i don't know where to start.i see you have posted your cfg tweaks aimed at high performance and in my case it seems like my best option?if i choose to use your added tweaks do i need to erase whats already on my standard untweaked cfg file or add whats on page 1 to the existing file?

You have an oc CPU 5ghz and still need tweaks???WOW!!!Michael

Because at the time there was no 'tweaking tool'. So, I simply posted my fsx.cfg so others could experiment with it. I created the tweaking tool as a personalized service to tweak fsx.cfg files for maximum performance.

I want to improve the detail of fsx not the speed :) sorry guys am i asking a difficult question here with regards to the cfg file? id really like to know how i go about doing this.does your tool provide a cfg for very high detail with a high end system? it seems so hit and miss on the quality of screenshots i have seen in terms of quality it varies so much. Even with high end hardware fsx can look like a 1980's game without tweeks I really would like to know what i have to do to stress my system while getting the best detail possible, some in game shots look stunning but so far i seem far away from that quality

You can check my FSX guide (signature) and setup your FSX and graphic card accordingly. My FSX is smoothly running with 30 FPS and high image quality.

Many thanks to you! this will help. looks like i will be keeping my donation for now! all i asked was a simple question

Hello, I´m new to this site and I have register only to say a thing. I have FSX Acceleration installed with REX, UT, GEX, and I use an external limiter. I use all recomendations (I think) explained, and also I have edited fsx.cfg to modify essential parameters like:[bufferPools]UsePools=0 [JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=14[GRAPHICS]HIGHMEMFIX=1 [Display]TextureMaxLoad=30TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400I have Intel i7 430@4Ghz + Nvidia GTX 460 OC + 6gb DDR. I also fly FSX using Nvidia 3D Vision (it is spectacular). I usually fly over 1m ortophotos + autogen at 1680x1050.I have not a lot of knoledgement about, but I have noticed strange things in FSX that do not happend with other games. When I start Windows 7 64bits and run FSX the framerates are low, and if I exit the simulator and enter another game first (usually I use Mount & Blade Warband), after entering FSX the increase of fps is noticeably better (per example from 7 before to 20 after). It has no reason aparently because drivers are perfectly installed and all the pc run smooth and without problems with other games. I use Game Booster to prevent problems, and also I defrag the hard disk and test the CPU, VGA and RAM ussage, and all seem to be correct.About CPU ussage, the 4 cores was always working, but affinitymask helps with autogen a lot. Usepools gives a lot of smooth. It is strange but the simulator usually start not using the 4 cores at full, but the framerate is the same than when afther some seconds the cores are at full speed. It seem like if the usage of CPU´s would be a trick to convince us that the simulator has really multicore support. I have used the bojote autogenerated fsx.cfg, but do not improve my fsx experience more than I have when using manually those tweaks. My fsx is fliying better than before, of course, but I´m not happy with the results. I fly over Barajas (Madrid) with only 6 fps, and some people can do it with 25. Something happens and I can´t understand. Also testing the VGA ussage it is like if my VGA would be sleeping with 10% ussage, and only videoram is really exploit at 80% when using nvidia 3d vision. I have exactly the same framerate with or without Nvidia 3d vision, and this let me to think that the VGA is not used as desired, otherwise framerates could decrease a lot as with other games. System RAM ussage is anotehr think not exploited, I usually do not fill more than 40% or similar, and I don´t know if it is a normal thing, it is like having 2gb would be practically the same as 6gb.The thing that more causes ununderstanding in my mind is what happend when I launch Warband before FSX. It really gives me the impresion that FSX do not work alone and need another external thing from windows to be activated. Could be anything related with codecs or directx?... it never happend before with any game.
