turn off the Hyperthreading. Maybe there is an another option to archive this... Nevertheless I was testing a lot with some of the mentioned tweaks but I have allways the same situation that at the beginning of the simulation the photoscenery is very crisp and with the time the more unsharpen will be the photo scenery. My average fps are 30 fps with and I tried also the command FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.50 (also with 0.30 as my average fps are)...How can I get my photographic scenery allways crisp ?I see also some micro stutters while am flying. pretty much everytghing is tweakable, but I would have to experiment to see which one affects this sparkle effect.

I have tried the BP=0 to no avail. It did not seem to make any difference at all, Is this because I have only a dual core AMD system? I have a low to mid range system by todays standards. amd dual core x2 4200, 7600GS 512 video and 2 gig memory. I'm still trying to understand how FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION functions. I have set affinity mask to 14, so technically core 0 should be dedicated solely to the Fiber thread, Core 1 to the Main thread, and 2 & 3 to the Texture threads. So in light of Core 0 only working on Fiber, and the FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION only affecting Core 0, would work it to set FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION to 1.00?

I 'capture' my flying using an external digital video recorder. I connect my computer's HDMI output to it, so I can watch my flights later.The Video recorder maximum capability is 720p, so I have to set my resolution to match the device.When I'm not capturing videos I normally use 1920x1080, but never more than that.As for FPS, there is no difference for me using 1920x1080 or 1280x720 even 1280x720 looks really good because I see the actual output in HDMI mode which adds a little 'blurriness' and less pristine appearance to FSX.

Hi *******,I read a lot about your tweaks.what i have done is I took my cfg file and next i copied a lot of stuff from your cfg file in mine.the one which gave me most fps extra was the usepools=0now finally i have great performanceI bought mega airport schiphol from aerosoft and that one gave me 12 fps in VCafter the usepools I got 20 and now with the rest copied I got 30 fps which is great regarding the difficult airport.Th e question which I have is following:I have the gtx 285 from nvidia.Now the scenery is fine but as soon as I go to IVAO network to fly online, it is terriblewith tearing and shimmering.before the operation I had nhancer which gave me the exact scenery outlook as I have now besides on IVAO.now with nvidia only it is no good.have you a suggestion how to solve this.could I install nhancer again without losing the good scores I have now?i have fsx and w7 and i920 overclocked aut to 3.7 ghzDoeke

pretty much everytghing is tweakable, but I would have to experiment to see which one affects this sparkle effect.

The day I wrote this I was viewing a lake at ground level and the reflections moved much slower. At height and due to air speed they probably do sparkle.jja

Just tried it out - replaced my own FSX.cfg with bojote's, expecting no change at all. I did some copying back and forth from my FSX.xfg to bojote's to get my addons back online, and after starting FSX I went into FSX's Display settings and turned up the screen resolution, type of filtering and restored the settings I had for AI traffic of all kinds. At the end of the day, I have exactly the same performance as I had with my old FSX.cfg. At first I was disaoointed, thinking nothing could make my FSX's performance better, but then I realized something:- with my old FSX.cfg, I had 9-12FPS with the PMDG J41 at Aerosoft Schiphol.- with bojote's, where I did restore AI values, screen resolution and anisotropic filtering, I got between 9 and 15 FPS, usually around 13 FPS.Now here comes the interesting part:Bojote's FSX.cfg has texture resolution set to 7 cm. My old one was set to 60cm, although my detail radius was set to max. I am now going to experiment with these two, setting the detail radius to max and taking back the texture resolution to 60cm. I am quite hopeful that this will give me a nice FPS increase of about 4 or 5 FPS, like it did when I did it with my original FSX.cfg. I find it quite amazing that I get slightly better performance when the settings with bojote's FSX.cfg are actually higher than with my original and I am very happy about this fact! (also because in my experience the detail radius really does not influence my FPS a lot...)So, bojote, if you are reading this:Thanks!

Hi *******,first of all many many thanks for your great work and your very clear explanations!I have a couple of questions which I hope you can help me with, and they concern core allocation on the i7.Let's leave all the rest fixed for the moment. And let's suppose that we have hyperthreading enabled.Since in such a configuration the 'virtual' cores are the odd numbered ones (1,3,5 and 7), I assume that in order to replicate the situation you suggest for the Quads (that is, soft affinity = 14) we should tell FSX, via the AffinityMask setting, to use cores number 2,4 and 6. Is that correct?If it is, then the value for the mask should be 84 (= 0101 0100 binary), which would be the hyperthreaded i7 equivalent to 14 (=1110 binary).Actualy I tested the above out on my i7 (below the full specs), and it seems to work quite well. I got a great improvement in frame rate when compared with the 14 setting. This should depend on the fact that if you put FSX load on virtual cores, it does not perform good, I assume...Assuming the above is correct, my next question is: would there be any advantage in switching hyperthread off and using 14, or is it better to leave hyperthreading on and use 84?Comments/experiences from other readers wery welcome too, of course!Thanks a lot...
