May 13, 201016 yr Hey Guys I did an OS up reinstall when I added a second graphics card and now I have this problem as pictured.I can't seem to get rid of it, also when the sky looks right there are way too few cloudsThis is a clean install, clean 197.13 drivers, clean config in the default flight over Orbx Friday Harbour and I still can't get rid of it, any ideas. Also I turned Dawn/Dusk Smoothing OffThis system in a Core 17 @ 4.2 with 6 GB ram, WinXP 64, and two GTX 280 video cards in SLI. SLI is disabled currently. I am using nhancer.
May 13, 201016 yr That looks like a shader problem. But you said you did a complete OS reinstall plus FSX?Hmmm... | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

May 13, 201016 yr Maybe change it back? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 13, 201016 yr Yep ground up Reinstall. The only thing I changed in my shaders was the cloud fix. "Boot New Materal = False;"Suggestion: Never apply tweaks/mods UNTIL your install is in perfect working order, then you can apply tweaks/mod one at a time.. I have no idea what the problem might be, but if I were to guess, I would say it is related to ENBSeries mod I also got the black sky with my 480 and the ENBSeries mod.
May 13, 201016 yr Author *RESOLVED*deleted the shaders folder in FSX and replaced with a backup(I always keep a full backup of the base FSX install folder somewhere on my PCs), deleted the shaders folder in local settings/application data, and all was well again. Thanks for you help guys.
May 30, 201016 yr Hello!I thought I would add how I fixed this problem (Black Sky in FSX) on my system. I must have added a "cloud fix" addon or something. I looked in all the folders under /MSFSX/ShadersHLSL/misc... in that folder I found one file that had a much newer date than the others. Luckly, the old file was there as well with "COPY" in it's file name. I deleted the newer file, and renamed the old one. Problem solved!BTW, the file was named "SwarmCloud.fx". Hope this helps!

May 11, 201511 yr I know it's an old topic, but I've stumbled upon this issue recently. There's another option : after reinstalling FSX I've used old configs and forgot to reinstall the libraries included with DX10 fixer, which resulted in black skies...
December 23, 201510 yr I too am having this problem after I installed DX10 fixer. Could you elaborate how did you got rid of it? Where is the libraries included with DX10 fixer? I am using REX4 with soft clouds, do you think the problem is REX related?
